That's crazy that the power cord failed like that. It is VERY unusual to have a 2-prong to IEC power cord other than the official power cord that came with the amplifier itself. If you look here, you will see that the power cord you have should be able to handle about 1,000 watts of power safely...
The failed cord is labeled as 0.5mm squared (20awg). At 3' long I would have thought it would have been ok. I will likely pull the cover off the amp and blow the dust out and use a thermal gun to see if I can find any hot spots. Otherwise I will get a 14awg cord and use it.

Super cool. I just stumbled across this thread when go ogling the speakercraft Amp. I just got one at goodwill for 30 bucks. I dont need it. Let me know if you want it.
