1 set of sources for 2 zones?

I've been trying to figure out a solution for our new house that doesn't involve $10K in Crestron gear!

To keep it a simple discussion to start, I have my HT in the basement and 4 in-ceiling speakers and sub on the main floor.

I've wired everything back to a media closet in the basement (speaker wire, hdmi, component, 2 x RG6, 2 x Cat 5e) so I've got options.

My sources:
PS3
HTPC
BEV 9200

My Outputs:
Plasma on each floor
5.1 in basement
4 in-ceiling with sub on main floor

Current Equipment:
Harmony 680 remote
Yamaha RX-V1600

What I want to be able to do:
1. Have good to excellent audio in both zones
2. Share sources between the 2 zones
3. Be able to feed separate or same A/V source to each zone at the same time. (Might make some compromises).
4. Control each zone from their respective floor via remote like harmony or tablet PC.

I'm prepared to invest in separates (processor/amp) from someone like Emotiva but I can't figure out how to achieve the above. The biggest barrier is being able to run a sub in zone 2 which is essential.

How do I do it?
