One way to recieve high quality Hmdi audio is to : use a de-embeder which extracts the 24bit audio from the hmdi signal and send it to a DAC which can use a hi-res signal, then on to your amp/pre-amp.

My BDP-83SE will be delievered today. Since I mostly use the analog outputs I am hoping this SE will be a + in my system. I will compare the two players during the next few days. I expect to sell my regular BD-83. Which is in mint condition and Eligible for the SE upgrade.

Funny, I watched CHris Botti with Sting in BD last night, it is good also. I have seen the boston BD at Best Buy, I wonder if it was good. I think I remember it had 7.1 sound? I'll go by and pick it up now since you gave it a good review.

I first got the DVD-A by mistake. The sound was good but the video wasnt great. So I exchanged it for the Blu-ray format. The video was much better and sound was also great. I was also impressed with the Bass player, 0000!!
