What you say makes sense. I personally would probably take the chance, and maybe purchase a warranty from the individual vendor, if possible. But, I'v repaired boatloads of audio gear in my past and could probably fix most problems, but that's me.

Congradulations! I've got a RX-V2200 which is dated compared to the RX-V2500, and it has done very well for me. Yours will do even better with the newer technology. :)

I would advise going with a speaker with no greater than a 12 inch diameter woofer. It's been my experience that a lot of 15 inch woofers tend to distort the bass. To me they sound tubby. Cheers :)
