I think I might throw in a little better video card too. I am Just using the on-board video now.

Well I wiped the Ubuntu off because I was not all that impressed with the speed. This is a 3ghz P4 machine with two gigs or ram and it felt a little slower than I thought it should be. I installed OpenSuse and it is quite a bit faster. Any thoughts on why that would be? Should I try another distro?

Good to know. Output on the Onkyo pre outs is 4v so I think I am good there, but I can see where it could be an issue with some receivers.

Also, try disconnecting the internet connecting to the Oppo. I have had several movies that would not load on my samsung because they were looking for something over the net. As soon as disconnected it they loaded right up.

So your not limiting your amps output power when you have to lower the gains correct? To get a 75db level with both subs and keep my level adjustments with my receiver to within +/- 3 or 4 the gains have to be very low on my EP2500. I suspect this is because I am going from RCA to XLR, and the...
