    Subwoofer Cable Review

Yes if a cable is designed well it should function well when used as an audio interconnect and usually even as a video interconnect, depending on the types of shielding utilized. Usually companies market a separate video cable so it matches the color code (ie. yellow - composite, Blue/Green/Red...

    Silver DIY Interconnects

There is a difference, Silver is slightly less resistive than copper of equal gauge. The solution is to use more copper to offset this advantage and its certainly much cheaper and easier to work with. Some Reading Materials on this topic: Silver Cables Exotic Materials in Cables

    multiple subwoofers

This is why companies are designing smarter EQ's such as the new Audyssey system which uses fuzzy logic based on multiple mic positions. Read our Review of the Audyssey Mult EQ system The days of dismissing (not implicating anyone specifically) room EQ to aid with passive room correction...

Type of products you would like more reviews of ?

Good idea, but you would be surprised how tight many of these companies are about sending out product to review. We can get $10k gear from hardware manufacturers but parts suppliers won't send 10cents worth of liquorish.

We don't do tests that have little to no real world implications so you will likely never see "all channels driven test" just like you won't see us discuss the chocolately midrange performance of cables. We are however devising real world amplifier tests which to date have never been...

NAD performs well on test bench...

Without having a unit here to test, or schematics at my disposal, I can't say for sure. But it sounds like the NAD has a current limiting circuit to protect the amp /power supply from being over taxed. This is not uncommon in a budget priced multi channel receiver. Keep in mind that...

Yes, we wanted to do a 7.1 rather than 5.1 system. People can always opt for OS4's for the side channels if they have the budget and proper room.

NAD performs well on test bench...

The Yamahas are typically designed to be very dynamic and can deliver good instantaneous power. For example the RXZ9 uses 80V caps. An amp delivering 170wpc doesnt need caps rated above 60V to do this, but they design in a lot of overhead so the amp can deliver more than speced power for...

    Audioquest or Cattails?

Actually the high capacitance will cause frequency peaking in amplifiers with a high unity gain crossing, and may cause instability problems in some amps. It will cause roll off in amps with high output impedance such as esoteric tube amps. But yes, the bottom line is only poorly designed...

    Denon vs Yamaha: Please Advise

It is bad advice to recommend someone tp drop $1k on a receiver when the person doesn't have the speakers to benefit from it, or have any plans of upgrading those speakers. The most important thing in a hometheater system is the loudspeaker/room equation. If you don't get that correct off the...
