Audyssey MultEQ XT 32—32 Upgrade for AVR-5308CI and the AVP-A1HDCI, really?

AVP Update Guys; I just confirmed with Denon that the AVP/5308 upgrade does NOT allow you to apply a simultaneous calibration curve to all subs :( It still calibrates each sub individually which is a bummer since their newer lower end receivers actually provision for the simultaneous...

Axiom Audio VP160 Center Channel Preview

I don't think that will happen since Axiom seems content with their current offerings and now the VP160 fills the gap for those wanting a center channel with better off-axis response.

Axiom Audio VP160 Center Channel Preview

I don't think Soundstage is doing measurements at the NRC anymore. I haven't seen any recent reviews done there by them. Also, I do hope Axiom starts allowing 3rd party measurements again but only time will tell.

    Emotiva XMC-1 Processor Preview

I've heard nothing but great things about Tact from industry professionals so I for one am looking forward to evaluating this processor. I want to see how it stacks up to Audyssey and my Denon AVP is getting upgraded to the latest Audyssey in 2 weeks so this is timely.

Why We Measure Audio Equipment Performance

Agreed, I'm learning to tone things down a bit to appeal to a wider readership. I wish I had someone to simply dumb down my long tech articles for those that want a short concise report. Perhaps down the road we will rank articles based on their tech level for understanding. The same applies...

Why We Measure Audio Equipment Performance

I honestly don't focus that much effort into stand alone dac's. I test the DAC section of receivers and Blu-ray players to make sure they are operating correctly. By correctly, meaning they are outputting HD bitstreams error free. I rarely test how they decode these signals since most people...

Why We Measure Audio Equipment Performance

Preamps and Dacs are generalized in the preamp section of the article. We measure drive level, distortion, SNR, crosstalk, etc. As for source devices, if the disc is read it usually transfers digital correctly or we would see a BER issue. Some devices do negatively affect sound quality when...

Who Makes the Best Performing Subwoofers?

Velodyne is trying to fulfill a shrinking Brick&Mortor marketplace while also selling online. That is not an easy task and eventually they will have to prioritize on one to be successful. B&M won't tolerate their lowering prices and the Internet model is too well established and competitive for...

Are these RBH speakers a steal, if so which are best?

That's an incredible deal! I used to own 1266-SE/R's and had tears in my eyes when I traded them out for a pair of T2's. I did direct side by side comparisons before I decided to do that. See my review: RBH Sound T-2 Signature Series System Review — Reviews and News from...

JBL Synthesis S4700 Floorstanding Speaker Preview

I actually had a chance to hear these speakers last CEDIA. I had no idea they were $20k/pair. I didn't walk away impressed, especially now seeing the price. These are IMO certainly not the best horn speakers I've heard from JBL, though they were the most costly.

    RBH Sound Inwall Loudspeakers

You wouldn't think that if you heard them. The 6100 system projects an enormous soundstage and can play at SPL levels traditional 2 or 3 driver systems simply cannot. They do require a fairly good size room however. If the listener is only 6-8ft away from the front speakers, then a SI-760 is...
