Audioholics State of the Union 08
Ditto on that! I spend all day restraining my NY Italian vocabulary in front of my children and business associates. I need that release on Halo and you definately don't want that on AVRANT!

New Technology to Push 40Mbps DSL over Existing Copper Wire
This technology is nothing new. I worked on this about 7 years ago at my former employer Paradyne but they weren't savvy enough to market it properly and get industry acceptance with the RBOC's. They have since then been bought out and their stock hovers at $1/share with no chance of ever...

Audioholics State of the Union 08
Well lets think about this. Right now we have 6 demo rooms with a potential of up to 8. So technically, at least 6 of us can be playing full screen if we have 6 Xbox's and ethernet in everyroom :)

I suppose I have to be there since I am hosting the event :D As for Halo 3, i am game to play if it isn't a lousy split screen :) Everyone remember to bring their gaming consoles and we will be set!

recommended systems - speaker chg remarks
We update the recommended systems every several months to make sure the latest products are in there. The latest update occurred this week. We still have many of the older systems as alternatives and of course we still recommend those systems provided that they can still be bought online or at...

Top 10 Guitar Players all genres
This seems to be a list more catered towards "10 most popular guitarists" and not 10 most skilled. While I like a good deal of Eric Claptons music, he is IMO one of the most overrated guitarists in the business. His blues stuff is all standard chord progressions that any decent guitarist can...

Total Eclipse tonight!!!!
wow nice shots. I was tempted to take some pics as this happened past my daughters bedtime and she really wanted to see it but I figured they wouldn't come out well. Now I can show her these. Thanks Buckeye.

EQ vs. Room Treatments
That is why I said "at least" 1/12th octave. And I agree the display of the SMS-1 is virtually useless as we indicated in our review. I always use LMS and a 1/12th octave FFT to verify results. Nulls can be dealt with to a very minor extent with systems like Audyssey. Ultimately using...

Michael Bay wins the Format War
Haha this is a hillarious editorial. BTW, I have the Transformers HD DVD and I think the audio fidelity sucks on it. Way too much compression. I should have saved $10 and got it on SD, especially since it wasn't a movie I plan to watch regularly.

Florida man dumped from wheel chair by the police
Wow this is crazy. I've been following this story every morning on the Bubba the Love Sponge Show in Tampa. What are the odds it affected someone that visits our forums? Poor guy and thankfully the bad cops were caught!

APC AV H15 1.5kVA H Type Power Conditioner Review
The Buzz is caused by a ground loop. If you tie all the grounds of components connected to the H15 back to the chassis pin on the backpanel it will go away. Rotel amps have some of the largest inrush currents in the industry b/c of the multiple capacitor bank in the power supply and little...

Sub 'Distance' setting
This is a great discussion and an important one. What matters most is the integration between the sub(s) and the satellite speakers. Its good to start with the correct sub distance but always wise to experiment. In my system I am using Audyssey Pro MultEQ stand alone processor for the sub...

EQ vs. Room Treatments
Room EQ doesn't negate the need for passive room treatments. It compliments it. My advice for getting better bass goes in order of importance: 1. multiple subs properly placed: anyone serious about getting good bass and still using 1 sub to do it is seriously missing out 2. some passive...

APC AV H15 1.5kVA H Type Power Conditioner Review
The Rotel is a clone of the S15 with Battery backup, not the H15. I love the S15s and recently upgraded to S20s with the only drawback being the latter don't have any 12v triggers.
