Can you hear a difference in Sound between Audio Amplifiers?

The whole sighted test bias argument is a bit overstated in my experience. I've seen plenty of very biased "blind" tests that were a lot less valid then well controlled "sighted" tests. Anytime you precondition a listener by either bragging of a brand, price or what they'd expect to hear will...

Infinity Primus 363 vs Pioneer sp-pk52fs

Unfortunately I didn't directly compare them. I compared the Infinity's to the EMPs and the Pioneers to the EMPs and made notes. In addition, I made notes during extensive listening tests of each speaker individually. I think the Infinity's may have a slight edge in bass depth and less...

Infinity Primus 363 vs Pioneer sp-pk52fs

Both speakers are high value, good performers, especially at their sale prices. However, the Pioneer line has a MUCH better tweeter IMO. Having spent a couple of months with both, I'd lean towards the Pioneers. They suffer less power compression, and have a more detailed and balanced sound...

Can you hear a difference in Sound between Audio Amplifiers?

A lot of this is load dependent. You get a speaker like a Status 8T and it separates the men from the boys in amplification. A speaker like the Pioner AJ, not so much I think :)

Can you hear a difference in Sound between Audio Amplifiers?

It sounded ok on my old RBH T30-LSE speaker system. In fact, I liked the bass but felt the highs were a bit harsh. The first sample blew up during my bench testing and the second sample blew two channels during a simple speaker cable swap. Later they recalled all field units, but I still have...

Can you hear a difference in Sound between Audio Amplifiers?

ATI makes solid amps. I am sure they would very very neutral sounding with almost any load. With my speaker system, I do need a solid 600-1kwatt of power when I run my speakers full range with LFE signal. The Classe and Pass Labs amps I have on hand do great for 90% of my music listening but...

Can you hear a difference in Sound between Audio Amplifiers?

I'm going to try to get a switcher box that level matches and is remote controllable like the one Salk used at last Years GTG. DBT protocol is not necessary. The listener can't tell which amp is running. As long as you can level match and instantly switch between amps and preferably not...

Can you hear a difference in Sound between Audio Amplifiers?

Wow the poll results are interesting so far. It tells me you guys need to do a little more listening and not so much overthinking  As someone who has over 10 years of audio design experience and about 15 years measuring and analyzing and most importantly LISTENING, I can tell you my...

Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.1 Speaker System Review

You are looking at the wrong graph. The Grille on/off measurement was done at 1/2 meter just to more accurately show the losses associated with the grille. At that distance, the speaker doesn't fully integrate into its actual farfield response. If you look at the 1 meter graph, there is no...

Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.1 Speaker System Review

What 5dB peak at 4.5kHz? There is a gradual rise in HF around 5kHz peaking 5dB at 14kHz. Padding the tweeter down a couple of dB would probably be the most one would want to do to tame the HF energy a bit. I can understand why AJ chose to voice the tower a bit hot since its so short and the...

    Denon AH-D7100 Headphones Reviewed

You don't want totally flat frequency response headphones. They would be quite painful to listen to. Also, it's very difficult to properly measure how a headphone couples with a human ear. Here are the measurements on the Sennheiser HD600s which I consider to be a true reference pair of...

Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.1 Speaker System Review

I think you made a good upgrade to the Pioneers but they do have limits too. Try bass managing them with a powered sub and your receivers bass management to see if that cleans things up a bit. The only issue is your older Yammie Xover is a fixed 90Hz setting. You can chose a sub with speaker...
