The manual bass controls on the AVP are very low Q so they boost a very broad band whereas DEQ may do the boost in a narrower range. I wish Denon would replace their crude manual GEQ with an adjustable PEQ like Yamaha has, though with ability to adjust down to 20Hz.

I'm surprise how much you like DynamicEQ. I found it overboosted the bass and usually left it off for most listening. Honestly I wish there was a way to limit Auyssey to just correct below 500Hz like the Anthem ARC system does.

I heard the Hansen's at CEDIA a few years back. They were amazingly good. Easily the finest sounding Canadian speakers I've ever heard.

Yep. It's one of the main reasons why I won't upgrade my RX-Z7 in my family room system. It's their last AV receiver with the orange display. Call me old school :)

Not quite. Tonality is similar but the 8300 has a more dynamic and larger sound due not only to the bigger bass drivers but bigger mids as well.

The Yamaha does not use an SMPS. It's a linear supply just like the Denon. They rate the power consumption differently. I think Denon rates max power while Yamaha rates full PWR for 1 CH and all other channels 1/8th power. Check this article for a bit more info...

I've always seen markings on RBH drivers. Make sure you are in a well lite room and perhaps even use a magnifying glass to examine around the speaker posts for polarity markings or even a red dot indicating +. TLS has great advice too. Either way, call RBH.
