JBL Professional's new 7 Series monitors feature trickle down technology from the $20,000 M2 Master Reference Monitor, including the Image Control Waveguide. The line consists of two loudspeakers, the LSR705i, a compact 2-way speaker with a 5" woofer, and the LSR708i, a larger monitor boasting an 8" woofer. Both models are passive to save size and weight, in addition to centralizing power distribution. Unfortunately, the 7 Series will not be available for individual purchase, and are only available as part of a complete package.

Do you think these speakers set a new reference in studio monitors?

These look great. The 305s are similar, but obviously have "budget cuts" throughout. If these fall in around that 1k/ea mark, they could be the speaker to beat.

Too bad they aren't being sold as speakers only, w/o amplification/processing. These could be some pretty interesting HT speakers given the M2 pedigree. Hopefully, there will be a way to buy the speakers only given that JBLs home speakers have been a bit lackluster as of late, and there's a big gap between their consumer line and the synthesis line. Sure, at $1000/bookshelf we have Revel, but wouldn't it be great to see the JBL name and M2 technology in an average (sub $10/000) home theater?
