Yamaha RX-A1000 Aventage Receiver First Look
Yes I believe the RX-A3000 allows up to 9.2 while the RX-A2000 does up to 9.1 using an external amp. This is pretty cool and something I've been begging Yamaha to do for years but only offered on their RX-Z11 and previous flagship models.

The RX-A is slightly more money than the RX-V for similar models. I think the extra $50 may be well worth it when comparing these two receivers however...

Yamaha RX-A1000 Aventage Receiver First Look
There are actually 5 models starting with the RX-A700 for $599. All models feature discrete amplification with full bandwidth power ratings. This is the most encouraging thing I've seen from Yamaha in years. Apparently my article Trading Amplifier Quality for Features really resonated over...

Help-Yamaha RX-Z7
Wow the comments here are amazing. There is nothing shawdy about the RX-Z7. In fact its one of the best A/V receivers I've tested hence why it stays in my Family Room reference system powering a 7.1 system in there and 3 other zones all around the house! It's not uncommon for any product to...

I started this article as a simple guideline under 1500 words. It is now 6k words and hopefully done. Honestly why did I do this? Hopefully it will post by the end of this week.

Official Yamaha RX-Z7 Receiver Review Thread
Paul the problem isn't with the stepsize on the VC. Its the lack of responsiveness from the remote. I have the same issue unless I use a different remote programmed with Yammie codes. I suggest you increase the power up volume to a level slightly lower than you normally listen to so its...

Make sure your remote control is set for the main zone and not for one of the other zones. Also goto advanced menu setup when powering it on and upload the latest firmware via ethernet.

If you are using it as a pre/pro its a moot point since it won't affect the line level outputs.

The Yamaha is a good receiver. But the H/K is alone in this market with respect to Stereo receivers with digital inputs. There are no others on the market that offer this feature.

Perhaps down the road if they submit a sample. The 3490 I reviewed was bought by my friend else I likely wouldn't have reviewed it.

harman/kardon HK 3490 Stereo Receiver Review
If you use both L/R outputs they are in Stereo. You can even use them for a second zone if you have a separate power amp. If you use the Right out, its mono for a single sub. There are no stereo receivers on the market to my knowledge that have bass management. The subout is full range as...

harman/kardon HK 3490 Stereo Receiver Review
I typically don't test receivers into 4 ohm loads continuously with more than one channel. The 1kHz test is close however. I suspect this receiver would do around 160wpc into 4 ohms continuously with both channels driven based on the other measurements.

I suspect the amp section of the Denon and HK are similarly good with a slight edge towards the latter for a bit more power. However, the Denon lacks digital audio inputs and post processing virtual surround options. The Denon does do multi zone and it has a loudness control. It all...
