    Marantz DV-9500 DVD Player Review

Zip there is more to a player than just the HQV benchmark tests or any benchmark tests for that matter. The build quality and internal parts for this player are in a different class than most cheaper players.

    Could a person do this.....

It doesn't work that way. Ideally the voltage output of 2 speakers in parallel will be the same as having one, but in return the current demand on the amp will be double. This assume the amp behaves like an ideal voltage source, which few do. Thus an amp that can deliver 250wpc into 8 ohms...

Ughhh! 2105 Denon AVR,,, Won't turn on!

Two more things: 1) If you have a volt meter, check the AC Line voltage and make sure its greater than 108Vrms but less than 132Vrms. 2) Disconnect all cables from the receiver, except the power cord and try again.

Ughhh! 2105 Denon AVR,,, Won't turn on!

Disconnect all of your speakers then turn the receiver on. If it still does it, then bring it into service. If not, that you have a short somewhere.

    Status Update on Paradigm Reviews

We met PSB at EHX and provided them coverage here Unfortunately, we lost the contact info of the marketing rep we met at the show. When our schedule clears we will contact them again to line up reviews. The PSB folks we met at EHX were very cordial. Marantz reviews are already on the way.

Denon 5805- NOT a powerhouse receiver!

Dan while you are dividing up power between speakers lets also not forget the UL derating of 15amps for the power receptacles of consumer gear. Line Voltage: 120V Max Line Current:15A Total Power Available: 1800watts Typical Class A/B Eff: 0.4 Max Power Delivery: 720watts Thus amps...

Denon 5805- NOT a powerhouse receiver!

I don't spend alot of time reading other publications or critiquing their test results. However what we have seen is some companies design their amps to be more dynamic when one or two channels are driven while others tend to design for less power but the ability of driving more of the channels...

Denon 5805- NOT a powerhouse receiver!

Yes I do use dedicated 20A circuits for my reference system. In fact, I had the 5805 plugged into that line with nothing else, not even my test equipment when running my bench tests. Figure on the fact that running 4CH at around 170wpc consumes over 1700watts of power, over 14A you can see...

Denon 5805- NOT a powerhouse receiver!

Regardless; their 5CH test for the 5805 doesn't seem right based on the power supply of the 5805, and what I have measured thus far. Also note the SNR differences: Via Analog: HK Receiver of 83.1dB vs 101.3dB of the 5805 which is an 18.1dB difference! Via 96/24 signals: HK of 73.6dB vs...

Denon 5805- NOT a powerhouse receiver!

Here we go again with the misconceptions of "all channels driven". I suppose no matter how much we write about how flawed that test scenario is, people will still treat it as the holly grail test for power amps. I saw their cursory review (my into is actually longer :) ) and I believe their...
