Auralex Monitor Isolation Pads (MoPADs) Review

See the pic at the intro of the review. It shows 2 4" pads. I placed 2 4" pads together for each Front L & R speaker since my speakers are about 8" wide. For the Center Channel I placed 2 4" pads on the left and 2 4" pads on the right with a gap of about 3" in the middle. Thus I used 2...

Auralex Monitor Isolation Pads (MoPADs) Review

You can configure the MoPAD for zero elevation so there won't be any added pitch to your speakers. Based on your setup it sounds like you can really benefit from them. 2 pads for each speaker, 4 pads for the center channel.

Auralex Monitor Isolation Pads (MoPADs) Review

If your speakers are placed on a resonant surface such as a TV, furniture, etc then yes you will likely hear a sonic benefit with these installed. I mostly used them to properly angle down my speakers to the listening position and wasn't expecting any sonic improvements but was happily...

Everythin sounds fine until things get loud...

Not likely. He is using Klipsch speakers. I agree with Ethan. It is likely your room is to reverberant. Klipsch speakers in an overly reflective room can be very harsh on your ears. You should assess your room acoustics before sinking any additional money into electronics or speakers.

    Power Cord Testing

It is the job of the amplifiers power supply to deal with this NOT the power cord. Applying a band aid to heal an open gangrenous wound does NOT a cure make. I am always amused when an exotic cable vendor claims to have an optomized solution which of course they cannot validate...

    Power Cord Testing

That's because its really not worth wasting ink on. The stock cord is usually adequate but if you need a longer one, simply replace it with an equivalent gauge one or a lower gauge one and make sure you have the proper plug on both ends. There really isn't much more to it.

    H/K 635 vs Yamaha 2500

Geez don't go there. Look at this article and reconsider: Switching Amplifier Technology and Issues If you are going the Yamaha route, go with the RX-V2600 not the 2500 which is the newer model and has improvements in amp performance and some very cool added options. IMO this is the best...

    DAC Shootout

How could you possibly post your experiences about a DAC? There are so many other contributing factors such as layout, power supply, integration, components used, etc in the product they go into that determines the overall fidelity of the system. Now that being said, I would have to give the...

    THE ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN FALLACY

Amps typically don't run up to their rail voltages b/c of drop off characteristics of the transistors, though you can get close if you use good enough ones. When you see the Cap V rating, its usually good design practice to keep your rails 10-15% lower than their rated values. Hence an 80VV...

    THE ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN FALLACY

hggns; Your estimates for 7 speakers at 88dB sensitivity driven with 17 watts seems pretty accurate (not factoring in room gain which can be much higher than you anticipate) Use this calculator as a swag: http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html If you place the...

Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

Sound Reinforcement is an entirely different animal. They use multiple large high efficient, controlled dispersion horn arrays with very powerful and high efficient switching amps. The end result is HUGE SPL with fidelity NOT being a primary concern.

Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

B/C the amps power supply would have to way about 200lbs and if it ever managed to deliver full power to any particular speaker, it would instantly melt the voice coils.

As I said in my last post, some receivers have amp assignability so you can reroute them to biamp. SPK A/B are the same connection point either in series or parallel to each other from the same channels.

    Tips for a SQUARE room?

This is bad advice for someone doing home theater, especially if you are using a processor that truncates the LFE channel when setting the crossover below 80Hz. A better solution would be to place 2 small subs in the room and follow our subwoofer placement guidelines. While square rooms aren't...
