    Pat Metheny

Wow I didn't think he ever answered his fan mail on the web. I think I may have to throw up a few posts over there. I would love to interview him and Lyle Mays. These guys are da bomb!

So I have watched Superman Return!

LOL. The first thing I would do is put Ebert on a diet :D Definately go see it if you can view it in a decent theater. It does bring back memories if you grew up when the original Superman movies hit the theater. I think I was around 7 or 8 when I saw Superman II in some capacity it made...

So I have watched Superman Return!

Well don't base your decision off of just my opinion. After all I am not Roger Ebert ;) I thought Xmen3 kicked butt but it didn't review too well, so there you go...

So I have watched Superman Return!

I thought the movie was ok and certainly less cheesy than the old Superman movies but I felt it lacked in the following areas: 1) Poor and inconsistant plot - I cannot ellaborate without spoiling it for those who didn't see it 2) Mundane acting by all but Kevin Spacey whom was brilliant IMO...

The Truth About Digital (Class D) Amplifiers

Though we haven't yet written much on this topic, we have been studying many of the newer Class D amps. Many of them are poorly designed or laid out. I don't have much experience with TACT and I appreciate your offer. I may contact them in the near future to arrange for a product review.

Why is SACD not really succeeding?

Haha we shall see. We are living in a PCM world whether Sony likes it or not. All of the receivers/processors handle bass management in PCM, most of the recording studios master their mixes in PCM. Personally, I love the sound quality of my 2CH SACD's and wish I had a bigger selection but...

Why is SACD not really succeeding?

Well Sony isn't really supporting it any more so that certainly doesn't help its success story. Also recording studios have and likely always will master in PCM and DSD is really not compatible. Check out our articles on this topic...

Blu-ray & HD DVD - Who Has the Upper Hand?

Most of the positive reviews we've seen have been sugar coated and lacked any real criticism. They read more like blogs or press releases. If you recall when DVD-A / SACD made its introduction, we were pretty hard on that as well with the articles I authored called: DVD-A & SACD - The...

Blu-ray & HD DVD - Who Has the Upper Hand?

Haha thats funny. Why would we be biased against a HiDef DVD technology that can improve audio and video quality over normal DVD? I personally don't care who wins the format war so long as the winning platform has software support and the sales are large enough to bring the technology into...

The Truth About Digital (Class D) Amplifiers

It seems like Bryston took quotes from an old Editorial Bruno wrote for us to post on their site as arguments against Class D amps for full range applications. I don't recall giving them permission for this and I can see why this has steamed so many folks on our forums. I will look into this...

The Truth About Digital (Class D) Amplifiers

Actually he no longer works for Phillips. I don't recall him ever stating that their design DAC is junk and he gives good reasons as to why that type of method is NOT optimal. Yes I agree which is why its important to NOT put words in peoples mouths or misquote them when they write articles...

The Truth About Digital (Class D) Amplifiers

You can drive two different cars on a highway at 60mph and not notice much of a difference until you are faced with external influences such as weather conditions, road obstacles requiring quick maneuvers that the inferior car may not be up to task to handle. My point is, alot of it depends...

How to get rid of Transparent Cable

Tell them you recently compared them to the Audioholics GLOB and the latter was superior. The Transparent cable simply didn't sound chocolatey enough. Best case scenario is it's not beneficial. Worst case scenario is it is acting like a tone control. You don't want to stick passive RLC...

REVIEW: Denon AVR-4306 Receiver with HDMI

Not sure about a conspiracy but I remember reading the literature on Audyssey boldly stating it would do room correction down to 20Hz - the first auto EQ we've ever seen that made this statement. When I tested the 5805, it didn't do anything below 100Hz at all. Later a fix was issued b/c of...

Axiom Audio Epic 80...not too great for stereo.

The problem is likely poor setup. Step 1: Turn off all Auto EQ's and bypass all tone controls and GEQ's Step 2: Follow our guidelines for subwoofer placement Step 3: Set all speakers to small and adjust xover to 80Hz Step 4: Calibrate levels via internal test tones and bump sub level up...
