Cool so they changed the HPF slope of their subs since V1 versions. Kudos to them, especially in taking the time to formally respond in an article format to your queries. Too bad they don't show how the limiter behaves when the sub is driven at higher output levels though :(

Velodyne Digital Drive Plus 18 (DD18+) Subwoofer Review

Oh boy Tom Nousaine measurements are taken in his living room without factoring out room gain. I hired him to write a review for us and couldn't publish it giving the inaccuracies of his measurements. This is why its important to understand test conditions when trying to compare measurements...

Because it's always people that can't afford the products that always do the complaining. When I get back in the office Doinyz will get a nice banning. Please don't feed the troll .

Yellowjackets rock! They kinda went the smooth bubble gum jazzaic for awhile but they are back to making real music again.

Brent's CEA test results are all over the map as can be seen with his DD15+ measurements that not only exceeded mine of the same sub, but even josh's measurements of the DD18+! The same issue was noted via his measurements of the SVS pb12nsd.

I don't understand how the charts don't correlate between the SVS and Velodyne reviews? The measurement procedure is identical and all documents, the graphs and scales are all the same.

take my derogatory comments as tongue in cheek. I still have NY Italian blood in me and often vent frustrations and then I'm fine moments later. Perhaps a post pad would be a more appropriate venue :) Velodyne driver is proprietary so I seriously doubt it shares any tech with Funk Audio...

Really, OK show me a sealed sub with full disclosure of CEA data to prove that.

If our critics spent more time actually reading the reviews and studying the graphs, they could easily directly compare measurements. I even attached an excel spreadsheet to the main page of each of the reviews tabulating all CEA data yet hardly anyone noticed. We follow a consistent and well...

Velodyne Digital Drive Plus 18 (DD18+) Subwoofer Review

High distortion (ie. 20%) at low F can still sound very pleasing and be inaudible, unless its port chuffing which in this case doesn't exist b/c its a sealed sub. While the DD18+ doesn't have as much output as a ported sub such as the fabulous PB13-Ultra, it does have excellent sound quality...

In part 4 of our "Identifying Legitimate High Fidelity Speakers" we discuss this topic in some detail. I may also write or co-author a more in-depth article on this as its a rather fascinating subject. It's also quite complex topic to turn into an editorial with supplementary graphs and diagrams...

Interestingly enough, their whole jargon about being part of the research at the NRC with Dr. Floyd Toole isn't even accurate. All of that research was done by Floyd and his team years before Axiom ever entered the NRC. I was told this directly by Floyd himself!

It's pretty clear to me that they are saying reviewers don't qualify with measurements why one sub is better than another. Also the whole tone of the article is to trust your ears over anything else using music, and of course you can't compare subs unless its done blind, which again is ridiculous.

You should be able to simply select 2CH stereo after you engage Party Mode. Also go into your menu and change the 7CH stereo levels for the center and surround speakers. I went in my RX-Z7 and set my center to 35% and my surrounds to 20-25% and 7CH stereo mode sounds awesome now. This won't...

Yamaha RX-A1010 AVENTAGE 7.1 Channel Networking A/V Receiver Review

Whoa there is a lot here but I will try to address what I can and remember from your post. I use -20dBFS b/c a 0dBFS can overload the bass management circuits if all speakers are set to small. It's an industry standard to use -20dBFS for multi channel testing. I do check 2CH audio with...

Unfortunately there is no real substance here to discuss. It's a marketing piece that ironically rejects 3rd party measurements of products and tells the readers to just rely on listening. I can see the appeal to this type of article for a layman, but to reject objective 3rd party measurements...
