Companies like JBL and Infinity recycle some of their profits into designing decent products, and use their economies of scale to achieve lower prices. Bose, by contrast, are common thieves who will happily take the consumer's money and give them dog poop in return.

More advertising=more sales=greater buying power and economies of scale. This can lead to considerably better bang for the buck. I think the Primus line sound great for the price. (One can do better if spending more, however.)

The market forces are working very well, from the manufacturer's point of view. They are able to sell players at high-end prices that don't actually sound any better than entry-level CDPs because they have convinced the public to accept the lie that more expensive=better.:( The same comments...

Buying used can save you money if you get a good product for less than new, but can cost a lot if the item is broken. It is always a gamble, and one I have never been willing to take. (Speakers are especially worrisome, as they are so easily damaged.)

I listened to a couple of samples of Black Holes on the headphones at the CD store, but was not impressed enough to buy it. Perhaps I should give them another chance? I listened to the new one from Siouxsee (Mantaray) last night, and it is great!

No, it doesn't add information (in fact, it cannot.) What it does is increase the number of pixels/square inch, making the picture appear smoother.

I will watch it at some point. SK adaptations range from outstanding (The Green Mile) to suuuuuck (Dreamcatcher.) It wil be interesting to see where this one falls on that scale.

I have seen a lot of great concerts, but two that I really regret not seeing are Pink Floyd with Waters and Genesis with Gabriel. It is not too late for either one!
