Well I finally bought a SUB!!!

A good place to start is to see if your sub cable is running cross any power cords. If it is and there is no way to avoid this, make sure they cross perpendicular to one another. Also be sure that your rca cable is completely pushed in.

Ten Reasons Why High Definition DVD Formats Have Already Failed

I may be mistaken but there is no such provision to occur. Broadcaster's need only go digital, not HD The ATSC standards include 480p, which is classified as EDTV not HDTV. Also keep in mind that Bush will be handing out 2 $40 dollar vouchers per household for people without HD capable sets...

Ten Reasons Why High Definition DVD Formats Have Already Failed

I'd like to add to one of the points that was touched on by Clint but not in quite the same vein as I perceive it. Average Joes who are watching DVDs on a HD set and have seen at least some HDTV be it in store or from over the air are probably not going to truly understand the improvement of...

What Floor Standing Speakers to AVOID

Avoid the white van, and avoid anything that seems to good to be true. There are so many brands out there, heck there are even some whose certain lines I hate and others I really like. Maybe this isn't the best help, but I think it answers the question. Speakers are kinda like girlfriends...

Why is SACD not really succeeding?

I'd say that this is a pretty compelling reason, owning a definitive copy. In the classical realm SACD is alive and well. For those whose tastes don't include this sort of thing then I guess they'll will just have to hope that their favorite artists release dualdiscs that include a 5.1 mix or...

    Silver eh????

The SE improved upon the original "Classic" with an improved tweeter that smoothed out treble response a little. They lowered the bottom end with a newly designed woofer that allows you to play them full range ( before a sub was more vital and recommended). Power handling also increased.

Need help with Terrestrial HDTV Antenna

It's been a while since you posted your question, but I'll try and help. You'll send the RF of your terrestrial antenna (I'm assuming it is an antenna designed to receive HD, most will) into the RF/Antenna In of your set top box. Then read your set top box manual on how to set the output to Y Pb...

Pics of new Ascend 340SE's up

If you are refering to the difference in SEs and the "Classics" , the cabinets are identical, the Classics had the beveled edge also. The SEs do have a new tweet, new driver, new tuning, xo adjustments. More details on it here

Center channel Advice needed - Ascend 170SE or 340C?

Since neither would be an exact match I'd go with the 340 SEC if watching movies a good deal of the time. I feel the 340 would be better with movie dialogue, after all that is why they designed it.

    close front speakers?

If you have a tube set you might encounter some pretty rainbows on your TV if the speakers aren't shielded. Something you may want to check out before you go through any trouble. 2-2.5 feet is not an ideal placement, since it will drastically reduce speaker imaging and soundstage, but that...

    My HT Quest

Congrats on the new speakers. I think you'll enjoy them. Josh just a heads up on the omni mounts. I used them with my 170s and a day or two after install they start to sag forward. The design of them is just crappy, because you just can't get them tight enough to lock down and the little ball...

New 12" SVS sealed "Plus" sub

Ummm okay. If there's no fixed definition then why bother with the word at all? My reference to "musical" has less to do with extension than the explanation you are offering. I take musical to mean accurate control, which most sealed subs excel over ported ones. In general ported subs...

New 12" SVS sealed "Plus" sub

Im sure it won't play as loud as any of their ported subs, considering the sealed design. It looks like it is targeted for smaller rooms in any case. Though if it is more musical I might be interested. SVS has long made cliams that their ported lines are musical. I think they realize they aren't...

    They're done!

Looks like you are pretty handy in the woodshop. Nice going. The veneer does look like it would be quite a challenge to cut free of chipping. Where did you learn of the plans for your design? or was it modeled from scratch?

My little system and a pic

There are advantages to having fewer components and here is a perfect example of this. Clean Clean clean. I wish my setup could be so simple, Cheers Nova.

Multi Channel not working for SACD on a Denon 2910

Not difficult at all once you have it setup. Sometimes DVD-A may be a bit tricky if the first menu option isn't to play the disc in hi-res. Obviously you can't see to make the correct button presses w/o a TV in that case.

Multi Channel not working for SACD on a Denon 2910

Make sure you have hdmi set to 2 channel. This will ungray several key menu items for using analog multi channel.
