    Amp???

That's a pretty tight budget for five channels of amplification. My recommendation would be the model 755 from www.outlawaudio.com which sells for $1299 US plus shipping. If you do not yet own a preamp of any kind you should instead consider a multichannel receiver which combines the...

    Amp???

There are literally thousands of different amps out there to choose from. Anyone trying to help would you benefit from: a specific budget to work with, your room size, preference of amp type (monoblocks, stereo, multichannel ), how loud you listen, music genre preference, etc. . Give us a...

20 Albums You Should Own, But Probably Don't

Another diamond in the rough is Herb Alpert - Rise. This album is the convergence of jazz, latin, & disco. It is extremely well recorded. I use it as a reference for auditioning speakers, and it definitely turns some heads.

    Hookup question for a beginner

Note: For those just tuning in, I do realize that this is not biamping in the purest sense (using the speaker's passive crossover), so I don't want to look as though I'm giving uninformed advice here. However, this type of connection has become popular enough now that many people generally...

    Hookup question for a beginner

Here's a nice article that explains in detail what bi-wiring and biamping are and what they do. http://www.soundstage.com/synergize/synergize031998.htm

Don't let this happen to you.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry you incurred the damage. Maybe now you can use hindsight to make any plausible improvements to the first system's design. Good luck.

    Hookup question for a beginner

Yes, everything sounds correct with your connections. Not suprising that you hear no change. Isn't the V-3 100 watts per channel and the 56txi rated at least that? In order to even begin to notice a difference in output you'd need to at least double the power. Even with a 200w amp I doubt...

    Ascend vs. Axiom

Both companies have good customer support and respectable return policies. Perhaps audition each of them and then decide. Buckeye, I'm not picking on you, so please don't take this the wrong way. it's just that I'm really growing tired of the implication that a recevier will sound bright...

    PureAV power conditioners/surge protectors

I agree, but with one addition. Simple convenience. Sometimes it's just nice to have a rack unit with all the connections right there where you need them. It certainly makes for easier/cleaner wire management.

    New No-Nonsense Cable Company

Just curious if anyone actually thought the GLOB was a true product? I'm guessing you could easily fool the right personality.

    Amp advice

Great recommendation, but just thought I'd point out that when you buy two M-200s they have a special price of $578 for the pair.

    Power Conditioner Suggestions

I have and use the Panamax 5300 . It might be priced a little over what you want to spend though. I've also seen several members here and abound recommend the Tripp-Lite isobar units which may be a little less expensive. I have personal bias against Monster products, but they do have a line of...

Need a very small, musical sub-woofer for small room

The 10" Titanic sub kit from parts express is great for music. It's a sealed design and provides quick, tight control. Seems like the perfect sub for your needs.

Anne-Sophie Mutter SACD Review - Beethoven Violin Concerto

Can we expect more SACD and even DVD-A reviews? I've been hoping you'd do these types of reviews for quite some time. The DTS reviews are okay, but I prefer these formats.
