Perlisten’s THX Dominus In-Ceiling Speakers Great Sound for EVERY Seat!

Triad is not even in the same league as Perlisten. They are good for the money, but let's not pretend equivalency when it doesn't exist.

Perlisten’s THX Dominus In-Ceiling Speakers Great Sound for EVERY Seat!

Reviewing the Perlisten In-ceiling speakers is challenging. They are so big and heavy and standard 1/2" drywall won't even support them. I think Matt Poes might be getting them at some point to complete his all Perlisten system. I've heard them at a couple of trade shows and thought they were...

No idea where your jitter worry stems from. I saw no such indication during my testing of the RZ70.

    Star Trek Picard season 3

Season 3 was decent but the female villian was lame and rechristening an old ship as the next Enterprise was ridiculous. Nothing of Kurtzman Trek comes close to DS9 or the best of TNG, Enterprise or Voyager. Lower Decks is the best Star Trek we have now,, IMO, despite it's a parody. It holds...

Denon and Marantz could cease operations in 2025

As a huge prog rock fan, and amateur piano player, i do like good synth and moog if tastefully done. It's why I prefer Tony Banks from Genesis over Keith Emerson from ELP despite Keith was the technically superior player. If it wasnt for these guys innovating on the 70s, bands like Depeche Mode...

Denon and Marantz could cease operations in 2025

It's really sad that most modern pop music doesn't even have a real drummer in it. Think of the 80s when we had Phil Collins doing great pop with innovative drumming. That seems to be all but gone in mainstream music.

I asked Mark to clarify but he's traveling in Europe ATM so it may take a few days. In the meantime, I just posted this article based on the recent FW update for Onkyo/Integra/Pioneer but I'm not sure if the update addresses the issues Mark discovered during his review...

Onkyo TX-RZ70 11.2CH AV Receiver - Official Support Thread

Currently Dirac does NOT allow full-range bass to the mains on ANY version of their software, unfortunately. Despite setting them to full-range, it ALWAYS puts a HPF at 20Hz which is why I'm NOT currently using DIRAC ART in my theater system. Nilo from Dirac is actually working on an update to...

Onkyo TX-RZ70 11.2CH AV Receiver - Official Support Thread

While Mark is a new reviewer for Audioholics, his results were fact checked by Onkyo and Dirac and we are awaiting a firmware update from Dirac so he can retest and update his review. Our own Theo Nicolakis was also at Mark's helping him set up Dirac and he's a very seasoned reviewer intimately...

Denon and Marantz could cease operations in 2025

Quote attributed to Blair Tripodi, Chief Operating Officer of Masimo’s consumer division: “The “discontinued operation” classification simply reflects an accounting adjustment related to how the consumer business is included in Masimo’s overall financial statements. It has no impact on the...

    A/V Receiver Impedance Selector Switch

Most of the top tier AVRs I've measured from the major brands can easily do 100wpc x 7 ch driven. Nothing wrong with that especially given everything else they do on top of that.

Denon and Marantz could cease operations in 2025

This is a nonsense article. Sound United is NOT ceasing to exist under Masimo. They are just not counting SU revenues under the Masimo brand in 2025 from what I'm understanding. The brands don't appear to be in any danger of going out of business in the foreseeable future.

    A/V Receiver Impedance Selector Switch

Using the 4-ohm setting, especially on an Onkyo, severely limits your amplifier power even with just 1CH driven. If you're spending big money on an RZ50 or 70 and doing that, you're better off just buying a much cheaper Onkyo unless you need the added features. There's nothing wrong with the...

    A/V Receiver Impedance Selector Switch

The switch is there for one reason only, UL certification for 4 ohms with all channels driven. All Japanese AV receivers function similarly. One Yamaha i measured in the past did deliver same power in 4 ohms in low setting as 8 ohms in high setting but again it's limiting your power. Yamaha...

Nothing has changed is latest gen amp sections of D&M AVRs in terms oh how the impedance switch works. A/V Receiver Impedance Selector Switch

No, that's essentially wrong. The 4 ohm setting severely limits power and thus current into 4 ohms. The receiver isn't tripping in the low impedance settings bc it never delivers enough power to the load due to limiting it in that setting. You can read every review I've done with measurements on...
