    I did a bad thing, I think...

That stuff stuck on them can cause hot spots. On power tubes this can be very bad. Let them cool down completely. Remove them and very gently scrape of the grunge with a razor blade. The brown rings if they are from smoking should come off with a little rubbing alcohol. Treat them gently and...

HeadPhones for boarding, what do u recommend?

While I'm not a snowboarder it would seem that unless you do it completely alone you would want to be able to hear what's going on around you. That's why it's illegal to wear them while driving a car.:D

Harley's vs. Japanese bikes & Bose systems.

Right! I'm going to go from a wonderfully smooth V4 to a single cylinder thumper. I may just look for another Yamaha RZ-350. That was always my favorite bike. I regret ever selling my yellow Kenny Roberts special.

Harley's vs. Japanese bikes & Bose systems.

A course in motorcycle riding should be required for anyone who wants a motorcycle license. If you ride and don't wear a helmet; you have on your head exactly what you think your brain is worth.

interesting new direction, or snake oil...

Could this be why Pioneer speakers usually appeal to the guys at audiokarma who are hung up on 70's and 80's Japanese gear? Sonus Faber makes speakers that use the cabinet resonances to "improve?" the sound. I'm in the camp that wants cabinets to be as inert as possible.

    Adcom 5500 and 555MKII

With a room like that it's no wonder your speakers sound bright and harsh. Put some rugs on the floor. Hang some oriental rugs or tapestries on the walls. Almost any speaker would sound bright and harsh in a room furnished like that.

Harley's vs. Japanese bikes & Bose systems.

Maybe you missed the engine size part. That's 500 to 700cc or so. A 500cc twin if HD made one probably couldn't get out of its own way.:D

Harley's vs. Japanese bikes & Bose systems.

If HD made a sport bike in the 500 to 750 CC size I would buy it. HD makes no sport bikes that I'm aware of. I have no desire to ride a cruiser. I'll keep riding my old restored 500CC Honda Interceptor it's 20+ years old and still capable of outrunning every HD out there. It feels like it's...

    Question On Biamping

If you have a powered sub woofer you are bi-amping. It just means running separate amps to speakers and sub to use that as an example. Bi-amping using a sub woofer has lots of benefits. It gets the lows frequencies away from the mains and provides a separate amp and speaker to produce them...

    El Cheapo Newbie question

Hi, Tod; Taking your points one by one. 1. If stereo is your preference buy an integrated amp and a tuner. The only technology that has seen significant advances is surround. Amplifiers made ten years ago are frequently better than current production. Todays receiver is next years boat...

Lip-sync and NBC Football - HDTV

So, what's new? The sync was off on the analog over the air signal. The sync is off about 50% of the time on most TV anyway.:D

    New to Speaker Design

If you are new to speaker building a kit is the best way to start. There are lots of books on designing and building speakers, that's also a good place to start. Parts-Express has lots of speaker kits and how to books.

    real noob question

Nightmare room is more like it. You have one wall totally reflective and one with no reflections. Vinyl tile over concrete is also extremely reflective. Contrary to popular thinking a room with lots of reflections is NOT a good thing. Carpets or rugs on the floor to start with...

    design acoustics

The only thing wattage ratings for speakers mean, is that is the maximum recommended wattage. Speaker wattage ratings are essentially worthless. Take notice that better speakers don't get into a wattage rating. Most of the time you blow speakers because of insufficient power. :D

    Diffusion

Adding diffusion to the front wall (behind my speakers) seemed to open up the soundstage and increase the impression of depth. It doesn't seem to change frequency response. This is with ESL's. I don't know if boxes will benefit as much or in the same way.

I doubt if any Jewish man or woman would be allowed to speak that way or at all on a Muslim TV station even if he or she fluent spoke fluent Arabic. :D
