    Mono SACD - why?

Kind of a funny story. I've a great friend who I talked into buying a universal player after he heard Dark Side of the Moon on my system. I had to travel out of town and hook it up for him and show him how to use it. He also picked up a couple of DVD-A's that day that were also multi...

    Beginner subwoofer connection question

I'd bet you have a crossover built into the sub. This is how most of this type work when you don't have RCA siganl inputs.. You take the front speaker wires from your amp to the sub..connect to the inputs, then take another set of speaker wire back to your front channels. The amp section on...

    Neodynium Magnets

They do.... Look here.. http://www.gaussboys.com/default.php Again, I've tried two designs I've come up with and can't get it to level exactly or some way to keep it in line without some kind of "coupler" like the rods in the examples I've listed above. Level...if..your DVD player...

    SACD / DTS audio questions..

This is probably a silly question but did you setup your DVD player's menu for bass management? I'm sure the reciever is the way you wrote your post. This might account for the lack of bass. That player is supposed to have decient bass managment compared to others. I take it that for DTS...

    Help with speaker choice

You really need to audition both speakers and come to your own conclusion what sounds best to you. First part of your question... I'm sure that reciever would probably power 4 ohm speakers just fine.

    Neodynium Magnets

As far as I know, a true levitating platform has never been done with plain ole magnets and nothing else.. You need something to keep it from sliding off axis. I've tried a few experiments on my own and can't find the solution. I've even read that it's not possible without using a...

    Marantz Imperial-9 resurection

What a cool project! I just finished doing a pair of Marantz HD88's. I rebuilt the crossovers and refinished the wood. I bought these brand new around 1975? I finally decided to upgrade my speaker system. I have them stored in the original boxes...(no kidding) untill my daughter...

The most newbie-ish question ever asked of Audioholics! Pre-pro amps?

I'd also like to chime in that quite possibly, some are using the receiver for HT and a separate amp for 2 channel music. You could use a tube, or a myriad of very high power, low distortion amps on the market. Some would put more emphasis on this than HT and can't afford to do both a...

    SACD playback problems

Double check connections and if on inspection, all cables are seated and correct, then check your cables for opens. Highly unlikely but it's worth testing before you ask for a replacement for the Samsung.. I just helped a friend install one. The cheaper model. He's is working fine. Nice unit.

    Hiding cables

If they are following a wall...like someone already mentioned, you can sometimes just wedge them between the wall and the tack strips. You could also pull the baseboards and either slot them with a router, wide and deep enough for the wire or cut a small half inch part of the wall board at...

    Rockets versus B&W's

Nope....don't own them, and have never listened to them but have read about them. There isn't anyway that what's posted above by furry guy is even close to the truth. That's my personal feelings. I look for the DIY sections of audio fourms and ran into this one. Anytime you find someone...

    Rockets versus B&W's

You still have yet to list the equipment or even the speakers your using..... A guess.......you over spent on them and are now looking for a scapegoat. There are lots of car forums when you go looking. I would suggest you might take a gander so you don't get taken again. :p

    Interconnect cable...

A bit of reading but some good suggestions.... http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/s1.htm Also see.... http://www.bus.ucf.edu/cwhite/theater/diycable.htm It's all subjective..What one likes..you'll find someone who thinks X brand is trash.

    Digital Audio

I bought a quality "glass" Toslink and am using a quality DIY Coax. If you have a player that has both, you can do what I did.... Connect one digital input into a DVD connection and the other into a CD connection. It doesn't matter which..This way you can A/B them. My observation is...

    Crimper question

Save a bit more money...The Parts Express crimper is the EXACT same thing as the Paladin crimper....You'll still need the Paladin die set. Just set the adjustment toward the middle of the handle on the third setting from the left. This seem perfect as it doesn't overcrimp the center pin and you...
