Hey y'all,
So, I don't have a ton of money and love thrift stores. And this is what I did.
I grabbed a Sony STR-DE895
Sony STR-DE895 (Black) Home theater receiver with Dolby Digital, DTS, and Pro Logic II at Crutchfield.com at goodwill
Then I grabbed a pair of small pioneer speakers.
Everything was great. The pioneers are awesome for their size, and the receiver is pretty badass for $12.
Then I was in another thrift store today. And I got a pair of these
VINTAGE QUASAR 7000 SPEAKERS
Exact same, except mine lacks the 3" midrange and has just the sub and tweeters.
So. Is it possible for me to hookup these speakers to this receiver? The little bit of research that I did is leading me to believe I could cut the plugs off and strip the wires back and be good to go, based on the fact that the receiver has a built in amp (100w over 6 ch).
Am I wrong in this? What options do I have? I understand this is incredibly janky and am not looking for perfection. But the store does have a no returns policy and
I am overly stubborn when I do something stupid.
Thanks
