I have an Epson 8350, which has been wonderful. lately after a couple of days the auto Iris message comes on the screen and I have to power down then it works perfectly. watching baseball yesterday it started to flicker on and off then off completely.I let it sit for about 2 hours and tried it again, well the projector came back on and it was working fine for about 20 minutes then the projector just turned off completely. then i tried to start it up again and it was only showing half of the picture and was cutting out.
anyone have any idea what is going on i am lost.

Are you running the lamp in ecomode? If so turn it to normal.

I would give Epson tech support a call. It is not typical of these models to have issues, but all manufacturers certainly run into some problems, and they can often be taken care of at a repair facility. No, not ideal to drop a few hundred bucks getting it fixed, but if the iris has gone bad, then that may be necessary. I know I recently had this repair done on a Panasonic AX200 projector. A few hundred bucks and it was back up and running just like new.
