Yes, that's always painful. There are other repair services that may be less expensive. iPhone 5 Repair | Professional Apple iPhone 5 Repair Services is one, but google iPhone 5 repair, you'll come up with a few.

As others have said, all will break. Got to get one of those really thick bumper cases, and with a Bluetooth headset, you can answer calls without taking the phone out of your pocket. I got a cheapie BT for $25, works ok, but if you pay up a bit you can get one with good noise immunity for construction sites. Then you can also dial the call by voice, or dial it manually and drop the phone into your pocket. Works for all smart phones, but I personally prefer the iPhone for many reasons, worth fixing.
thanks mate, I have a heavy duty tradesman case,

Talking? What's that?

No, they are all terrible for talking. The smartness was added to distract us from the fact that all cell phones stink as phones. And there are still many places without 3G or 4G, so when you get to one of those you are carrying around a brick in your pocket.

Talking to someone is so old school. Most of my business is done through text now and all of my communication with friends and family is through text. Heck, my wife and I have even communicated via text while we were on the same couch. Now as long as sex doesn't become sexting...I'm all cool with it.

I've got a ZTE Avid 4G. It's my first smart phone and I think it's pretty cool. I'm on the $30/month plan at MetroPCS so I hardly ever use any data when I'm not at home but I just basically wanted a phone. I'm the weird one that actually uses mine to call people every once in a while. I just don't get the point of texting. If I have something to say I'll call you.

I'm working on paired devices that should solve the latter issue. Plus if she's not in the mood it has a solo mode built in.

That's just it...people don't want to talk to you. I have a friend whom was a texting "hold out" as he said it was impersonal. He kept saying if we wanted to talk to him, we would eventually call as he wouldn't return text. After about 6 months he started returning text. I asked what happened and he said "no one called".

Phone conversations seldom stay on track and the 3 minutes of information you called about takes 30 minutes. Texting takes a few seconds, it's to the point and you choose when to just "stop" talking and no one get's upset about it.

So yet another thing to push society to being more and more impersonal. Yay. I can see avoiding people once in a while but heaven forbid you see someone face to face or actually have a conversation with a real live human being. Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't see all this texting crap and one word response culture that's developing as being a good thing.

I remember watching a movie a couple of years ago that was set in the future and people rarely left their houses. Almost all interactions they needed to do with others was via online or virtual reality. Then when the network went down and people had to do things for themselves they didn't know what to do. Looks like that's not that far away.

Oh, I really feel sorry for you..... been there done that
I accidentally dropped my Nokia N9 into the asphalt and the "unbreakable gorilla glass" shattered into a thousand pieces, just as expensive to change the glass as to buy a new phone.

The words "yet again" is even more scary

you gotta learn the lesson, only type on the phone when you're not in a hurry !!!!!!!

Time for a flip phone, I guess. :p

Btw, in case you didn't know, you can buy those screens on eBay if your warranty doesn't cover it.
