Hey fellas, been a while, I have been back to work full blast {real work} since the shoulder healed up... so back to my 75 hour work weeks, and the AC season is smashing us...

Well my wife begged me to take at least one weekend off before we start a huge upcoming job... So I picked this weekend since Emotiva was coming up here for a little show and I wanted to check it out...

We went to the show and they had some new stuff out to look at and hear, seems they are changing their amps soon, the XPAs are going to be all black, a little heavier and have a couple mild changes made... Should see them by the end of summer, also a new cd player erc-3 is coming soon {looks pretty good, still uses a toshiba drive and now has a tray instead of push in type drive}, a new DAC that is more for their pro line looks really cool but at $800+- I wasn't to interested, especially since it doesn't match the emo amps I already have... They had a few of the carver tube amps built by emotiva in the US there {I came close to buying a pair of the black beauties but have no where to put them {although the price was VERY rite, I couldn't bring myself to do it}.. I did buy an XDA2 to replace my XDA-1, I plugged it in this morning and I can not really tell the difference in sound, but if there is a difference I would say its a positive one because I still like the sound...

The volume works different instead of going 0-80 it goes the other way 50-0 {actually may not be 50 but it works on the other opposite scale is my point}... The remote has an extra button and the face has a headphone jack, over all Im happy especially since I can sell my xda1 for what the 2 cost me..

Anyway, I hope everyone on here is happy and well, Im going to poke around a bit and hopefully I can make it back sooner than later....

Good to see you posting again! I hope that all is going well.

Regarding the volume, it might have a menu selection for that. One is called "absolute" volume, and the other is "relative" volume. Some receivers let you choose between the two.

Good to see you back in the fold!

As it turns out, I've got an XDA-2 myself with an XPA-200 for my bedroom setup. Other than the first unit being DOA, I've not had any big problems. The unit replaces an older HK receiver that was giving me problems and will be getting pitched.

wow a bad one rite out of the box, that is just bad for business, lol... I had a bad avr out of the box once, but it turned out to be a bad fuse.. Sucks to wait and anticipate something, open the box and then NOTHING...

I like being able to use it as a preamp, with out really buying a preamp, and they are smallish... I listened for a couple hours last night while doing some paper work and I played with the anti jitter button on the xda2 and it sounds different, but I never notice any jitter. I use the optical cable with the pure dock, unless I plug the laptop rite into it...

What was a little more annoying was the speed of the customer support; just to compare and contrast, the sales team was and has always been top notch in responding to me, even in regards to a $60 refund I was due for buying a couple days before the summer sale started. I e-mailed them one evening and by 9AM the next day, I had a response and got a refund notice noon the same day. OTOH, I shot an e-mail to customer support on a Friday afternoon/night, and got a response Monday afternoon that I responded to practically immediately; sent a follow up the next day in the morning, and then eventually called early Tuesday afternoon (I wouldn't qualify the conversation as terribly friendly either). Only other communication I got after that was a shipping notice on Wednesday afternoon.

Steve, you know what I noticed about companies like this, you need to deal with one person, get their name write it down and just talk to them, now when you call you are on a first name basis and you get a little more compassion, respect, and attention. I simple hey this is "John from Delaware, remember I had the cd player with the broken screen" he says "yeah, whats up" and you say "Im having a problem with whatever" , even if he doesnt remember you, you will get the attention as if you are an old firend vs. just another guy calling to make him do more work... I know you shouldn't have to finesse these guys, but it is what it is... I call the same people at Emo all of which I have met, I call the same guy at sound import {they are the wharfedale importers I deal with}, the same girl at ascend, and I wont talk to anyone else, Ill leave a message and wait for them to deal with my problem, and with these small companies they are ussually available rite away unless its is their day off or something...

another issue is, everyone has a different experience, some people say "wow they took great care of me, went above and beyond what I could have ever asked for" and others say "WTF, these people dont care about me".. I notice a lot of it has to do with my attitude, some people resond to you different than others, one csr may be really nice when you are really mad, others may return you being short with their own attitude, some may treat you like bad because you are being nice, people are weird animals...

Tell me about it. Throw in some hormones, indestructibility (imagined), and the ability to be a container of all human knowledge at the tender age of 13-18 X 20-30 and you've got a classroom.

Might not hurt in the future; this was the first time I've had a problem though, so I didn't have anybody to bug. Of course, I'll still hope I won't need to test their CS in the future. :D

Next time try buying over the phone and write the persons name down, then when or rather if you have a problem you can say, "hi Jenn, you sold me a X123 Amplifier a while back" and that may get you a little more accountability on their part...
