The last time I showed someone my phone, they laughed at me. Until I told them how much I paid for the phone service, and that shut them up. I use a prepaid phone service from T-Mobile, and pay $0.10 per minute, with no monthly fee. I end up paying about $100 a year.

Do you use a case for your phone? I would take a look at Otterbox and Lifeproof cases.

I had a Nokia N9 for about a year and a half, still very happy with it
It's with MeeGoo Os that Nokia threw out, still don't understand why as it's a good system :p
The N9 is by far the best phone I ever had, the SwipeUI make any Android phone look aged....

Best thing, there's a command line:

Galaxy S3.

Pretty much all smart phones are going break if you abuse them so I don't know if your plan is a good one. Maybe look at the Motorola i1?

You really need a good protection, the screen of my N9 shattered into a million pieces when I accidentally dropped it onto the asphalt, just my luck that I found a place to repair it at a very good price as a repair can be higher than cost of new phone. At that time I did not use the rubber protection case I bought for the phone as it looks much better without....

But now I always use this protection..... TOUCH WOOD..... so unfortunately phones are getting more and more fragile so you need to be really careful and have protective cases

Galaxy SIII on Verizon. Very happy with it. It has an excellent camera, great screen, it's fast, and I really like the physical design. Best phone I've had thus far. Never had a case on it. What's the point in having a nice phone if you're going to stuff it in a case where you can't see it? I'm also very careful with my phones and have never dropped one in the past 4 years of owning a smartphone. Maybe I'm just lucky. :)

I went 6 years without ever damaging a phone and then ruined two in two days. You just never know...

Razr M (on Verizon) buried in an Otterbox case. If I was a carpenter, I would leave it in the truck.:) When I was in the industrial seal industry selling to mostly steel mills I used Casio g'zone phones. They are very durable.

I once dropped a Siemens phone in a stairway so it fell down two floors onto a stone floor, The phone survived easily..... Try this with a new phone
Trouble is the touchscreen displays with large displays makes the phones extremely fragile

I'm rockin' it old school with an iPhone 3Gs. I'd switch to a Galaxy S4, but I can't find an android equivalent of ooTunes.

Yes, that's always painful. There are other repair services that may be less expensive. iPhone 5 Repair | Professional Apple iPhone 5 Repair Services is one, but google iPhone 5 repair, you'll come up with a few.

As others have said, all will break. Got to get one of those really thick bumper cases, and with a Bluetooth headset, you can answer calls without taking the phone out of your pocket. I got a cheapie BT for $25, works ok, but if you pay up a bit you can get one with good noise immunity for construction sites. Then you can also dial the call by voice, or dial it manually and drop the phone into your pocket. Works for all smart phones, but I personally prefer the iPhone for many reasons, worth fixing.
