My SUV didn't match my new bike

So I had to get one of a different color.

I just love this time a year; when you can really deal on the close outs of the old year, as the suckers need the newest model.

Sweet! Congrats on the new ride.

Dude, I am jealous of your bargaining ability. I just pretty much go in, pay full price, and get f***ed. Same happens when I buy a car, too...

Haha...

I think I dang near stole this car. It helped that it's a 2013 and the 2014 comes out in two months. I went in with all my homework done, a true copy of the invoice and a firm number. I would have been very happy with the deal but just to jack with them, I backed out of the deal at the last minute and said my gut was just telling me to go with the Infinity. I called the Infinity dealership while I was at the Audi place and told them I was "stuck" in a situation that I had lost all interest in and I would be late to my appointment and threw in enough language that the Audi dealer knew who I was talking to. When I hung up, he said what do I need to do to keep you from going there. I said just make $1,000 more disappear and I will sign right now.

I signed on the deal and we were almost all happy. Until...I took a walk outside while they were doing the paperwork and stumbled upon the white Q5. I had been dealing on a black on black one and they already took it over for detailing. I had to go back in and tell them I was sorry but all the paperwork needed to be redone as I wanted the white one. That was an AZZ move on my part but they took it really well.

After it was all said and done I asked to speak to the manager again. We set down and talked about the deal. I asked him if I had left anything on the table and he said "you truly beat me on this one" We laughed a little bit and I asked him why he let that happen. He stated that he kind of got lost in the game and wasn't letting me walk out. He then stated that the next 3 guys that come in are paying sticker price.

IMO, that thing is basically a Audi styled Cayenne, and that's not a bad thing. Choice to go with white vs black was a good one too, I think. Regardless of the vehicle, your buying tactics are a complete and total win :D

Thanks man, so far I am digging the car. The only negative is the lack of console space; which is the same for all German made cars. You know that the VW's and Audi's don't have cup-holders when they get to America, the dealers have to add them.

The other rub is they want $2k for the trailer hitch receiver as they have to redo the rear fascia. I have to have it for my bike rack but no way I am paying that. They even suggested that I go somewhere else to have it done. I put the one on my Nissan but this one is way more complex. I found some guy that is going to do it for $295 but it will stick down a little lower than the OEM one. He said he could powdercoat it white so it will look better but I leave my rack on all the time anyway so it doesn't matter that much.

I hate the car buying game about as much anyone else but it's easy to get a good deal, if you take your time, check your emotions at the door and always be willing to walk away from any deal. It helps if you are not married to manufacturer so more options are open to you.

I am weird this way but I actually "practiced" by going and negotiating with some dealers that I had no interest in the brand of cars they carried. I do the same for job interviews. In my field, the competition is always trying to steal the top reps out of the field so I get a lot of job offers. I always go do the interviews to keep my skill level high.

My brother in law is pretty good at bargaining as well. He bought a 2006 or 2007 G35 S recently. It had 90k miles and was fully loaded. The dealership wanted 19k for it, not including taxes and whatever. My bro asked "how about 15.5 OTD?" and the salesman said he'd have to go talk to his manager...on the way out of the office, he asked him how he came up with that figure. My brother replied with "that's how much I want to pay for the car," and he got it :D

Or the VW Touareg...

I think it is pretty much the Touareg since it's made in the same factory and VW is the parent company of Audi.
I heard someone quote that Audi is somewhere around 5-7% of sales but makes up 25% of VW Group profits.

I dunno about that. VW is huge.

They own Audi, Lamborghini, Ducati, Porsche, Bugatti, and Bentley. They also probably own a few other companies that I don't care about :D

Nice Greg. After knowing you for 5+ years now it is no surprise you got a good deal. You will haggle St. Peter out of his job when you get to the pearly gates. It will probably be my only chance of getting in.:D

So, to keep from having an argument, you bought a new SUV to match the bike instead of getting a new bike to match the SUV... You sly Dawg!;):D
