The U.S. Open is this week. For those interested even a teensie bit in golf, this one should be very interesting. Old course and traditional design should make for.. zzzzzzzzzzz.....

I was hoping you'd be here to play in it... Rick and I are close enough to make sure you'd be playing with a hangover!:)

I think that I used to post more in one day than the whole forum does now. I guess this place needs another post whore.

I wonder where LOTR is these days...
Once we broke up he took a turn for the worse according to google he was last seen at avforums.com in November. I guess this place attracts the crazies.

Members posted more about entry level and DIY in the past...
Fuzz has been doing excellent work I give the occasional update and Alex is always up to something it seems. Actually I have a real update coming soon and it's starting to get really close to completion.

Members like Andrew and Chris would create a stir with their creations as well as companies like Athena ,AV123, Ascend Acoustics, SVS & Hsu with there lower to mid level offerings . AV123 is gone (what a ride that was...) and so is Athena. Ascend's, SVS's and Hsu's focus (in the public eye) seems to be more about the their higher end offerings.
There's always Pioneer. Have you seen their new line designed by Andrew Jones???

Remember all the treads about building systems on a budget? Guys that spent less than $600 on five speakers and then a Sub for $400 and a $400 receiver and getting a 50" TV For $1500 was a steal...
You know, you can get the full 5.1 package of Andrew Jones designed Pioneer speakers (with tower speakers!!!) for $550?

It created a lot of conversations. All the conversation now is about tower speakers that start at $2000 a pair. If you can't afford that just get the Pioneers...
Admittedly I'm not a long term player here, but IME floating around the forums, all those threads were (and remain) pretty monotonous anyway. Most recommendations boil down to a few flavor of the month offerings with a smattering of folks chiming in with how their speakers are so awesome and that you can't go wrong with them. Still, I'm pretty excited about those new Andrew Jones designed speakers from Pioneer, aren't you?

Still a good amount of good people and good conversation but not like it was 6-7 years ago.
Yes, but now we have Pioneer's budget speakers designed by Andrew Jones. And if you want a step up, there's always stuff like Ascend's Sierra Tower and the Salk SongTower. ;)

I like Linus Torvalds remark:
So if you take a few hundred photos, at least a few will end up being in focus.
