Once my wallet cools down a bit, this one is on my short list along with a 7125 amplifier. I'm a little put off by the lack of auto-calibration though. I don't necessarily care for a full on Audyssey implementation, but something to set distances, levels, and crossovers would be nice. Not a deal breaker, but an annoyance in 2013.
One man's loss is another man's gain? Or something like that? :D

Funny how I wouldn't care at all if my AVP-A1HD had absolutely no Audyssey, EQ, or DSP. :D

Yep, I run my Marantz AV8801 is Pure Direct mode exclusively and disable everything.
i even put it into Game mode.

A solid preamp with an excellent analog pass-thru and 6 HDMI inputs would do the trick.
i contacted parasound about adding HDMI to a preamp like their P7 and they were, shall we say, uninterested :)
Their experience with HDMI was that bad.

I was very sad to have to send mine back. I bought it after having so many HDMI switching issues with the Emotivia 200. Well, the Outlaw switching was better, but not 100% reliable. Slow, flashing, sound in and out, and occasionally did not lock on. Once locked on, it worked perfectly. The Emo was "frequently did not lock" and even lost lock when the FIOS switched formats. Both companies insisted the units were not defective and accepted them back with no further questions.

Confirmed with oppo, Pioneer, and Panasoic BDs, FIOS, and Toshiba TV with 3 foot high speed HDMI cables. The Marantz AV5007 switched every time with no drama in 2 or 3 seconds. So does the TV. Issues both "native" and "auto"

I have done a lot of data sheet reading and contacting vendors this week. Four things came out:
A LOT of units have had switching issues.
A lot of people tolerate them.
Reviewers IGNORE these issues.
The newest chipsets if properly implemented correctly, switch just fine.
Unfortunately, the Outlaw and Emo are the only products in this small footprint and affordable cost range. These are both stand-up companies. I hope they can resolve these issues.

My, how times change. :)
Why you......

To clarify, I only care about DEQ. I now do L/R Bypass + DEQ.

But you still have to run Audyssey first to get DEQ. Then you can bypass Audyssey for front L/R speaker & keep DEQ.

So I must rescind my statement about not wanting Audyssey. :D

Hey AT, could you elaborate a bit on that last statement, in other words how do you do this seriously, I thought Audyssey was engaged or not, so as simple as I am I would appreciate some insight, thanks my friend.
Cheers Jeff

I believe he's talking about Dynamic EQ which is an Audyssey technology. Hence, if a receiver did not have Audyssey, it would not have Audyssey DEQ.

I have 4 options: Off, Audyssey, Flat, Bypass L/R.
Off means I cannot get DEQ at all. The other 3 options allow for DEQ. So I select Bypass L/R, DEQ on, Dynamic Volume off, which means Audyssey is Bypassed, but I can get DEQ. :D

Audyssey is still working with your subs, only L/R are bypassed and you are getting the sub only DEQ'ed, at least that's my interpretation.

That would actually explain a lot. ADTG uses passive sealed subs without equalization, so my guess is that is that what he's relishing is the rough equivalent of what Funk Audio would have done in the powered version, plus some room-related tweaking like he'd get by utilizing a couple of bands of EQ.

Maybe. I've never used auto-sub EQ before so I'm not sure. But you're probably right.
