I thought I’d share some setups had over the past few years to what I’ve currently come to put together. My first place of residence was a 420 square foot apartment, where I tried an array of speaker arrangements and whatever equipment I could get my hands on at the time. I mostly restricted myself to car audio equipment; having been in the car customs industry for a couple years it was all I was comfortable with. I’ll include a couple flicks of my car projects past that really influenced and refined my taste in enclosures and certain equipment, some of which can be found even now in my current setup. Anyway! On with the show, here’s the photos. My first stereo, of 09’
I played around with this 2.1 setup for a couple months before I tired of it and was ready to try something new. Think this was about the time I got a slightly larger apartment and had the room for a bit more equipment. While I was putting this setup together, was the year I started this demo truck for the customs shop I was working at. My job was to wall out the back of the cab, turn it into a giant enclosure, glass the doors and form the kick panels and B pillars into speaker pods. As well as rebuild some other bits and bobs, like the receiver pod, center console, etc. More photos of each project can be found on my photobucket. Anyhow, While working on this vehicle I was introduced to Powerbass equipment. Used their amps in another install, but the subwoofers going into this wall were what caught my attention. We were breaking them in running sweeps, while I read the manual. Saw that they were ideal for free air/large ported applications spec wise; I was impressed by their power handling, output, responsiveness and excursion after throwing them in the wall and playing a bit. Shortly after I got a pair for myself.
Anyway, back to my projects at home; I order the subs and threw them in the enclosures.. With some extra interior padding all was good. Think this was about the time I ordered my maxxsonic amp, which has proven very loyal to this day.
I used this setup through the next couple years of college, rotating the mids/highs on occasion before I moved into the house I currently reside in. I was ready to scrap the car audio mids and highs (some good pairs of car component speaker sets waaay exceed the price of equivellent or better towers with more drivers). A friend of mine happened to appraise a home here, for the individual who designed the super directional tweeters used in a most recent contract with Klipsch to revise the audio for the parks universal studios and disney world. He'd also fulfilled some unique military contracts as well, anyway. They talked equipment, and what was new in the parks and really had my attention. I fortunately ended up in the area on business, and paroozed the parks; enjoyed the rides scoping for towers, and recognizable equipment I might be interested in. After the trip I made my decision, and went with Klipsch Icon equiptment.
Stereo of 12'
This is as far as I've come so far! Upcoming projects are to do accent lighting the antiques shelves, subwoofer enclosures and the fireplace with LEDs. Eventually I'd like to expand and add another couple of channels and from what I've been seeing from other users there's a world of amplifiers to try and enjoy. I look forward to learning from the people on this community, with their unique experiences and knowledge; And seeing where it'll take me and my stereo in the future. Nice to meet you folks!!
