Have you checked the prices for those NAD's? Your $1500 budget will get you the 275BEE (here in Canada - no idea what they go for in Australia). If you want the T977, you'll have to double that budget.
Yeah at the moment there sitting on 1500

That could be a viable option depending on which AVR and speakers you own, room size and how loud you typically listen to. By the same token, may be you only need to amp the front mains, or you don't need an amp at all.:D

I think you will be fine amping just the front mains. If it feels lacking, then pick up a little Outlaw or Emo monoblock for the center. Yamaha typically have very good dynamic capability but not that great with ACD output, but most people won't need top notch ACD performance for reasons explained many times around here. Ended up with a 2 channel for the mains and a 4 channel for the surrounds center is perfect the way it is

I guess I'm too late to the party. I love using pro amps because of the headroom. The Yamaha PSeries is fantastic and worth a look.

I did have a look at them they where grate but shooting over the budget that the missues gave me I'll probley get Yamaha power amps for the living area in the next few weeks but
