+1. I don't have hands-on with these amps, but I do have hands-on with 833 tubes. Not only are they a directly heated triode, they are works of art. When then really get crankin' the plates glow orange. I got one mounted in a plexiglass base fer show.

Get one more amp for the sub. Or get one of those suggested above and use the money you save to buy a summer home.

I think the OP is in Australia though, so I don't think he's looking to heat his house with the amps!

It would be good to tell us what speakers you're looking to drive with the amp and what brands are available to you. I don't know how many of us are familiar with what's available there.

Outlaw 7125 is $1K and the 7200 is $1850.

Emotiva XPA-5 is $769 and the XPA-2 is $679 for a total of $1448.

That will be a nice setup, I have an xpa 5 , 2 xpa2's, and an xpa3 {plus a couple others } they are just as good as anything else I have heard... I have BK that I directly compared them to and they sounded just as good if not better...

But with the sale prices 1600 watts for under $1500 is nice..

Once you calibrate, no. Using an amp for the surrounds at all may not even be necessary, depending on the receiver.

I would just amp your front 3 XPA3, call it a day $600 done... if you really want to amp your surrounds, grab a upa500 for $350 to go with it... but at that point an xpa5 for $770 and a upa200 would make more sense... Go through emos catalog and pick what you think would work for you... you can buy a couple apa150's to run your surrounds too, but with emos sale they are a better choice... I would personally get hte xpa3 and let the avr handle the surrounds...

+1, just amp the front 3, don't bother with the surrounds. Frankly, you'll barely detect the amps in the front 3, so do those if you have to, then save your money on the surrounds, put it into something that makes an audible difference.
