Santa just brought me a Denon AVR-1613 for my living room :D I have an X-Box (Of Course) and a Samsung television (Model Code: HPS5053X/XAA). I do not like exposed wires and have the Samsung mounted to the wall with a single HDMI cable running into the attic and to my electronics closet. Due to my hatred of wires, I would like to mount some speakers and have the Denon switch everything through its HDMI inputs to the single HDMI Samsung cable.

1) Any recommendations for speakers? (The less exposure the better :)

2) I connected the X-Box to the Denon but there is no sound out of the television speakers. Am I missing something simple or can you not solely use the television speakers?

Thanks for any help,

The default on that receiver is to extract the audio from an HDMI input and play it through the receiver's speakers. You can choose to pass the audio on to your TV, though. Check out page 87 of the Denon owner's manual - it says how to switch that setting.

Or maybe just turn the receiver off, and the audio and video will pass through, my Yamaha does this.

Excellent point - I never thought about that. That's discussed a bit on page 73 of the manual.

I don't think that you can switch sources without turning it on and then off again, though.

Thanks!! That worked perfect!! A simple little setting would have driven me crazy! I really appreciate the help with that!

FYI: I had turned it off and on, but that did not work. Changing the setting you and pg 87 outlined worked instantly!

Now I am going on a speaker search so I do not have to continue using my TV speakers :)

Thanks Again!!
