Wow dude, sorry to hear that. I went in for a routine eye exam recently and ended up getting referred to a specialist who told me the retina in my right eye is detaching. I had no vision issues, so they basically caught it early and were able to fix it a few weeks ago. I get rechecked next month. They said had it not been treated, I would have eventually lost sight in that eye.
Holy cow, glad they found that early.

geez, you hate reading about something like this. At least it sounds pretty treatable. Good luck!

Best wishes, Greg! My dad has had a few of those removed - always seemed to go off without a hitch. If it was on your face, I'd recommend a plastic surgeon do it. But on your shoulder? Get a scar - tell people it was a shark attack. :)

Pretty scary that what you thought was friction burn might actually be skin cancer. Rick, I don't think that we need to tell you to go to see a doctor... :p :D

Rick likes friction burns.....

Yep, my bikes seem to give me plenty of scars so one more won't matter at all.

Good luck with all that Greg! It sounds as if it was caught early and that is always the best way with that stuff!

Sorry to hear Greg. My Mom and a friend had the same issue and both got removed and life went on without incident. He's to wishing you the same!:)

Not to worry, Greg. I've had a few removed. BCC does NOT metasticize, so it's more like a permanent and slowly growing zit/bump. I personally wouldn't even call it "cancer"...which is a catchall word for many different systemic problems. Get it removed so that it doesn't look unsightly as it grows and people run from you screaming "HELP! A monster is after me!" :D

I ALSO had Stage IV Head and Neck squamus cell. That was not so good. Lots of surgery and radiation. (Explains a lot about my goofiness...eh?) That, or other cancers is what the biopsy wants to eliminate.

BCC is VERY common in sunny environments. In fact, there is a guy in Hawaii, a surfer dude, who has over 500 BCC lesions. He just looks like somebody planted a hamburger on his face.

Hey man, long time no see. Hope things are going good for you.

Yes, my doctor acted like it wasn't to be worried about. She actually said that in Texas, it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.

I was not aware that you had Stage 4 squamous cell CA. That does suck, glad you made it out alive even though somewhat goofy...;)

Thanks, Greg. I'm still fighting with heart issues. But it seems neither heaven nor hell want me yet. :)

A sorta funny story...I had both squamus and basal cell diagnosed at the same time. So I figured why not kill (probably a bad choice of words) both birds with one stone. I asked my ENT Cancer surgeon to, when he did the extremely delicate removal of the SCC in my neck, to remove a smallish BCC in the middle of my forehead. Bad idea. He did it alright. He wanted to make sure he got all the margins on the BCC so he cut the crap outta me. I now look like someone used my forehead for a golf chipshot to the green. Nice divot. It turns out dermatologists are pretty good at plastic surgery...ENT surgeons, not so much.

Oh well. I'm still purdy. ;)

I received the results yesterday and it is BCC. I am trying to get in for surgery before the 1st but they are booked up, I am on the cancellation list and hope I get in before my insurance changes for the new year.

I was just thinking about this today because I just got the bill from my eye doctor for that laser surgery, and I was going to ask you what happened with this. Good luck. Hopefully they get you in sooner rather than later.

I know a guy with a saw. :D

In all seriousness I hope they get it knocked out. The Priest at my wife's school has lymphoma of the spine and the prognosis is not good. It really puts life in perspective.

From your lips to god's ear. They'll dig that 9-iron divot on your forehead. They do mine....oooh weee. But Greg, you gotta make up a cool and interesting story...maybe about a knife fight out in the Texas panhandle gone bad...or having an AR blow up in your face...or some such.

:D
