HSU Research showed off their speakers and subwoofers at our 2012 GTG event . The big thing was that this room sounded fantastic. First off was the VTF-15H sub in satin black which runs $879. It has two ports in front and the lowest extension is found by plugging one port - which is how it was configured in the listening room we were in. That yields an extension down to 16Hz. We definitely felt that in our demo. For larger room you can open up both ports open which lowers the distortion provided you aren't digging down past a low frequency extension of 22Hz. The system was well integrated and the sub didn't sonically stick out but instead provided deep tactile bass for a great "wow" effect.

Hot tip for future interviews... Shaky camera looks stupid. It's an interview, not an action film.

My favorite thing about Dr. HSU's rooms is the total lack of pretension. It's him, his wife' and a couple of his employees. Add to that, his source gear isn't as nice as my garage setup ( at least at RMAF). He seems to let his products do the talking IMO, and they speak loud and clear. The VTF 15H is my next subwoofer.
Cheers, Mac

Yeah, his entire front end costs less than most other exhibits speaker cables.

I bet its a sub 300 dollar receiver and sub 100 dollar Blu-Ray Player. He's a real class act and very humble.

I remember reading at the T.H.E show in Las Vegas, someone had pointed out that the speaker wire he was using was literally lamp cord wire. That, to me, is a pretty funny snub to all the high-end snake oil BS audio displays they must have had there.

I dunno...16 gauge lamp cord is $0.25/foot at Home Depot. Seems kinda spendy...

If nothing else, I learned how to pronounce the name. :D In my head, I always read it as "hue" and not "she."
