Hi Guys

A few weeks ago my I left my speakers grilles off because I had some friends come over and showed the speaker to them , next day my 2 year old gets curious and decides to poke on them damaging 1 of the tweeters!!!

I’m sure I don’t have to say that I almost had a heart attack when I saw what happened

I contacted the dealer and explained the problem couple of weeks later the fine people at B&W sent me a replacement free of charge!

Thing is that I can’t figure out how I should open the speakers , the tweeters are covered and don’t have the screws showing and not quite sure if removing the mid speaker will help me see inside.

Does anybody know how I should proceed with this I don't want to take the speaker to the dealer because it's a 3 hour drive from where I am.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks!

I would first check to make sure that the speaker can be removed from the front of the baffle if not remove one of the speakers the speaker may be mounted with screws or mounted in a adapter if you feel this is too dificult I would give the speaker manuf. a phone call if they sent you a replacement then it must be a simple job to replace it but please be careful with screw drivers I would call the manuf first before doing anything

I took a look at mine, and it looks like it shouldn't be too impossible. Pull out the little rubber plugs in the holes where the grill posts stick into the baffle. There are screws behind those. Those should remove the whole front, and I would expect that the tweeter is mounted onto the baffle from the inside. Good luck.

Success!

i had to remove the mid speaker to be able to remove 4 hidden screws that hold the front plate and from there it was just plug & play

My speakers sound great once again!

Thanks for all the help!

Dang, I wish I would have seen this earlier. I could have been a real smart guy when I told you about the rubber plugs.:D Oh Well, I guess I will have to be a smart guy somewhere else. (By smart I mean strangely slow:D)

Hi,

I'm reviving this very old thread due to the fact that I just ordered a pair of 603 S3 off eBay and one of them arrived with the tweeter displaced and loose inside the cabinet. I unscrewed the mid-range driver and found the tweeter and tweeter diaphragm broken and have placed my order for a replacement part. My only concern is installing the new part once it arrives. I have looked over the images in this thread and I'm still not confident on how to remove the hard plastic cover. Also, how does the tweeter diaphragm stay in place? I understand how the mid-range and bass are screwed but am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Received my replacement tweeter diaphragm from B&W today. Took 7 days to arrive but I'm ready to install. Two questions I have if anyone is familiar:

1. How do I get the hard plastic grill off? It doesn't budge even after I removed the screws.
2. Best glue to use on the back of the tweeter. See pic attached.

Thanks for your time.

EDIT: I can't post the pic due to my low post count. :(

you should email b&w or ask your local dealer (at your new location or where you bought them)
