Nov 1212 issue.

B&W 802D2 measurements.

Sensitivity 90dB from 500Hz-2kHz

Listening window response (five point average on-axis and +/-15 degrees horizontal & vertical off-axis) measures +2.82/-2.79 dB from 200Hz-10kHz. -3dB point is 31Hz, -6dB point is @ 27Hz. Minimum impedance reaches 3.67 ohms @ 98Hz & phase angle of -54.11 @ 49Hz.

Much less expensive speakers have had better measurements on HTM. But could this be the best ever measured B&W on HTM (compared to other B&W speakers) ?

The 804D2 measures +4.54/-4.82dB from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.

The 805D2 measures +4.84/–2.06 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.

The CM9 measures +0.83/–5.12 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz.

The 683 measures +/-3.8dB.

It's funny that just a few months back you bashed B&W left and right and now you push them whenever you can. You make me laugh, a lot. :D

Laugh?

And you don't realize how many people laugh behind your back when they send me PM about you promoting Salk hard and often? It's a joke.

You make me laugh a lot. :D

I would be embarrassed if I owned a Salk thanks to you. I'm almost embarrassed to own a Philharmonic because they are just like Salk. I want to sell my Phil3 thanks to you. :D

Push them?

Nobody pushes any brand of speaker harder and more often than you push Salk. :D

I don't push one brand, like you push Salk ALL THE TIME and EVERY TIME.

I certainly don't ever send anyone private messages about buying B&W, like some people do with Salk. :D

If HTM measures a KEF, Revel, TAD, Focal, Dynaudio, Linkwitz, RBH, B&W, ATC, NHT, DefTech, and it's different, I mention it.

I mean if the 802D2 measure like +/-4dB or worse like all the other B&W, I wouldn't mention it because it would not be any different.

You are Salk's number one fanboy. You promote Salk anywhere, everywhere, any means, and often.

I'm certainly not B&W's promoter. I tell people to be open minded and audition for themselves and not just listen to fanboys of Salk or any brand.

But not you. You tell people to blindly spend $18K on the SS12 if they ask. What a joke. You make me laugh and embarrassed I own anything related to Salk. :D

Wow, that was unnecessary. I was just saying you make me laugh because you hated B&W a while back but now like them. It is kinda funny, and you do make me laugh a lot (I didn't say I was laughing at you). Your personal attack is completely unwarranted, but it proves the kind of person you are. It doesn't bother me, though, because I know you tend to lie a lot.

I am a Salk fan (duh), but I recommend other brands more than you do. All you do is recommend the ones you own, so you're just the pot calling the kettle black. Sell your Philharmonics because Dennis does the crossovers and he's related to Salk? Really? Sell them because you apparently hate me? Really? It is hard to take you seriously when you act like this.

I up the bid to $63.21 :D

Seriously though -What's all the brouhaha? B&W doesn't measure all that great in lab, but maybe they can sound good with room specific placements .... but are we measuring everything?

i find it curious that you like the bw's the most of all your speakers (although i dont see what the problem is about being excited about your new toy). i just somehow would have guessed that the salon's would have been your faves. makes me want to hear the 802's now.

very interesting comment and surprising that you would speculate on selling your Phil3's just because another person happens to like a certain speaker company and those associated with it.

Guys, any of those speakers he owns including the Phil 3 will sound great in a half decent room with capable/suitable electronics. I don't know why the sharp reacton/rebuttal to one member's post but I think we should all relax and enjoy what we audioholics enjoy on a fine Sunday. One should not be surprised even if he really wants to sell his Phil 3, given that one only has two ears and X number of rooms. Heck I won't be surprised he wants to sell his R2D2 or the newest Focal addition sooner or later.:D

I think AcuDefTechGuy needs to sell all of his speakers, use that money to assist with the construction of a new acoustically engineered audio room then purchase the speakers that he really really wants...:D

Doesn't really matter if they can keep it reasonably tight in that small window. As long as they persist with the too-large midrange and bullet-mounted tweeter, they'll still be the poster speakers for the midrange mushroom cloud problem.

They will sound different from accurate speakers (e.g. your KEF Refs, Orions, Revels, and Phils) so maybe they'd be a fun change-up for people who already own real speakers. But I'd recommend starting with better speakers.

You just lied right there. What a joke. :D

I have never told anyone to blindly spend thousands of dollar on any speaker.

But you repeatedly and often tell people to just blindly buy Salk because they will "probably" like it.

What a joke.

You are the liar.

I tell people to audition as many speakers as they can and buy the ones they like. You tell people to buy Salk. That is a fact.

Well, um, I've owned just about every brand at one point or another.

So I can't recommend the brands I've owned and liked, but you tell everyone to spend $10,000 on a Salk blindly without ever hearing them?

Tongue-in-cheek. :D

There have been a few guys asking for comments about buying speakers blindly, specifically the SS8, which is $8-10K depending on finish.

I tell them to keep an open mind and audition as many speakers as feasible.

But this Nuance guy always gets defensive and keeps on telling them to buy Salk blindly.

Gets on my nerve when people recommend spending $8-10K blindly without ever listening. :D

I guess I don't want people making a possible $10K mistake.

But I should not let any of that bother me. I should just enjoy what I have and be quiet.

Or maybe I just wanted to stir things up a little. :D
