Jiro Dreams of Sushi

I really liked this one. Whether or not you like sushi, it is more about being a master at your craft than the sushi itself. The guy is 85 and has been making sushi for over 70 years. The only chef at his age to receive 3 Michelin stars, and they said "3 was the only rating that was sufficient", meaning he exceeds the standards. His apprentices train for 10 years under him!! I happen to enjoy sushi very much and it made my mouth water to watch this :)

Mike, I sure wish that I could take pictures like you do. Seriously. You and Brian (Sheep) take excellent pictures, as do other people here. Mine always seem grainy. Could be my junky camera...could be my lack of skill...probably both. :)

Then again, no one really needs high quality images of the cheeseless Domino's pizza that I had today. :D

using a tripod would mean you could use a lower ISO and thus less grainy at the expense of a longer shutter (which means you need the tripod).

i didn't for my pictures, because i use an SLR with good ISO performance

People might have thought you were odd for taking pictures with a large camera in the restaurant...but at least with sushi, you know that your food isn't getting cold.

due to the drop in price of the entry level SLR's, everyone's carrying SLR's around now.

i always take pics of the food, but sometimes forget where i took them or what the food was, so i don't upload them to FB anymore.

i'm not always lucky in lighting though,

i went back to try their Chirashi, but the lighting was crappier

Kanpyo Sashimi

Uni Sashimi

Spicy Tuna Temaki ... mouth point of view

Ebi Tempura

Oyster Teppan

Chirashi Kyou

this is a loaded bowl. i was not able to finish all the rice, the assortment of all the fish was simply enough to get me super full

Maguro Toro Teriyaki

instead of the boring Gindara Teriyaki, i tried a new type of fish teriyaki. it's half the price, but a good substitute for Cod Fish.
i like this Tuna Belly because of the texture, instead of mushy Cod fish, you can feel that you're actually chewing something.
