I have a couple of items to get rid of. I'm thinking to just toss them in the electronics recycling heap, but figured I'd make sure there wasn't anything worth salvaging in them, etc.
First is a JVC XL-MCC222 CD changer (200 disc). I thnk it quit running about 8 years ago when I moved. In the chaos of moving everything I left discs in it and didn't think about them being lodged in the unit when I hooked it up and tried to operate it. The local shop say cost more to fix than it is worth (which seems reasonable, it was inexpensive).
Next is more interesting - a Nakamichi 581Z discrete head cassette deck. Unfortunately, I just opened and closed the cassette bay door and the open button did not pop back out, and now I cannot open it (without disassembly). The transport/logic seems to work (which is a surprise figuring the belts have been in one position for the past 16 years)!

My vote is to donate/give them away if you're not going to use them yourself. Someone might be willing to put in the time to fix them.

I'm about to put a 73" DLP on the curb if someone wants to stop by. I figure I could get $100 on Craig's list but I may get killed or worse so I'm going to just throw it away.

You mean Alex doesn't want it, I thought he got everything :)

Of that the NAK should not be scrapped. Some one on a site like Tapeheads.net will restore it and put it to use. It should not be a major problem to fix that machine.
