Just saw it last night, who would've thought hulk would be the funniest character in the movie?

I had a few gripes that I think would have taken minimal time to sort out, aka staying under the 3 hour mark, but all in all that movie was awesome

Saw it tonight. I had very low expectations, but I was entertained, however, my favorite part was in the credits, where they had about a hundred people who were involved in digital animation of flames. I guess that describes it. The script had a few laughs, a plot you could follow and an ending of sorts. They, of course, set up the next movie at the end with a brief clip of some even more evil character to come. I guess that's about as much as you could expect. I did like the part at the end of the credits where the characters were sitting in a restaurant, eating some Schwarma. I just had some a few days ago and all of a sudden, I needed some more Schwarma, even though I hadn't just fought off a bunch of extra-terrestrial demons. I guess that's it...a super-hero movie that mainly makes you hungry.

Gyro meat is the poor cousin to Schwarma, which should be real meat, not something forced together in a factory, served with flat bread, some sort of sesame/tahini sauce and vegetables. Usually it's served so you can roll your own, rather than already wrapped in covered with foil.

Yeah, unfortunately, that was true. He got a couple more monosyllabic wisecracks than anybody else. It doesn't help to dwell on the script writing, which was weak, even by superhero standards.

Saw it last weekend. It was pretty good. Definetly one of the better super hero movies. Kicked the crap out of Dark Knight I'd say.

I'm really looking forward to Thanos. That should be awesome!!

One annoying thing though was that everyone in the theater cracked the hell up when Hulk slammed Loki around, so I missed what he said after. What did the Hulk say?

ours came out April 25 i watched it last night.

it's a great movie, yes, the best of the marvel superhero movies, but not "epic" like most of the early reviews seem to gush about.

So I saw Avengers again today and I saw a batman trailer that I haven't seen before. Movie was still great, but I have to say that batman trailer kinda made the movie anticlimactic I had batman on the brain for the rest of the movie.

umm...no...

I know I'm in the minority and EVERYBODY else loved The Dark Knight, but I HATED that movie. I thought it was boring and completely stupid. I thought Heath Ledger's performance was lame.

I thought Batman Begins was decent but Dark Knight completely blew. I'm not even going to bother with the 3rd one. Tom Hardy has to be the lamest looking Bane I've ever seen. I might rent it one day.

I liked Batman Begins more than TDK but I also thought TDK was very very good. I can't wait for the new one

Everyone liked the first Spiderman too, and I hated it. I liked both of the Chris Nolan Batmans though.

Comic book movies in general . . .

The whole comic book as a movie in general is getting a little old, isn't it? I mean it is basically a battle of special effects at this point. You could drive a truck through the monster holes in the plots of any of these movies. You know none of the main characters are in any real danger, so every fight scene is anti-climactic. The good guys are going to win, the bad guys are going to lose, queue the corny ending . . . . . I realize this is true with most movies, but it is so formulaic in comic book movies.

I'm another one who wasn't all that impressed by TDKR. I could spend a week shooting holes into the plot lines of that movie. And what is a 3rd film in the franchise going to give us that we haven't already seen? Oh ya, more mindless special effects (don't get me started on that football field scene).

All that being said, I enjoyed The Avengers for what it was. I told myself to check my brain at the door and try to just enjoy the ride. I apparently succeeded this time.

I am worried about the onslaught of comic book movies to come, though. Every studio is going to be trying to duplicate The Avengers success now. If I thought these comic book movies were getting old now . . . .

Likewise, the only comic movies I can tolerate are the Batman movies, and I suppose that is because batman doesn't really have any super powers. He is just a rich guy with a chip on his shoulder. Iron man was also passable, although part 2 was too much for my tastes. The suspension of disbelief can only be stretched so far with me until it breaks. Superhero movies seem to be taking over from traditional action movies with cops and spies and so on. That's a shame for me, I'd much rather watch something like Die Hard or Predator than Spider Man or whatever. At least they are making Expendables 2.

I have to admit that I think comic/graphic novel movies are just getting worn out. Some of the plots are good but the main thing the makers want is to engage in a huge arms race to see who can spend the most on extreme digital FX. Given the limited concentration span of movie goers and the need to pack two screenings into an evening after dinner and before midnight, they have to dense-pack the FX, which creates cluttered images with frenetic constant action, explosions, flames, etc. I think it's really gotten way past the point where the FX contribute anything to the story or script, so just where does it end? Will producers run out of FX or will fans just get overstimulated to the point where they stop paying attention? The crashing failure of John Carter seems to indicate that FX alone won't make these movies work. The Avengers comes to mind here...obviously a success, but, when I walked out, my main reaction was been there, done that before....the credit preview already told me what would happen in the sequel.
