Help

I hate to sound dumb but although I have been reading message boards for a long time I have never posted anything. I have questions to ask the pros but I don`t even know how to post a question. I know I can get my answers here if someone can just tell me how to ask them Lol. Thanks for any help.:)

Go to the correct forum for the type of question. Near the top left, there is a "New Thread" icon. Click it. Add a title and your message. Hit Submit New Thread icon. Done.

Some valuable advice.

Or do a search about the type of question you have on a particular subject, and go to that thread.

Just click on the "Search" logo, on the top right corner of your screen.

I personally find it useless to start a new thread about something that is already in one of the existing thread.

The day that I start a new thread, tha'll be the day! ;)

Bravo Isiberian!

Isiberian, congratulations! I was wondering how long that will take till someone find out about that day.

Yep, you're absolutely right, June 4th, 2009 was that day, indeed.
And with the blu-ray movie "Defiance", that no one else have reviewed yet.
So, I did have to take the opportunity on that one.

* Right now I'm working on starting another new thread, that should attract very intensively with great interest all members at Audioholics.
I am taking my time to make this future thread the most interesting and the most viewed and with the most responses ever realised yet at Audioholics.
The only thing that I will say at this point, is that it has to do with the "Sound variations" on A/V Surround Receivers from their build quality and the implementation of their internal parts, including all of these from the last 12 years, when Dolby Digital came to the scene, up to this day with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. And including all various types of Automatic Room Correction EQs.
That should raise some considerable interest with the community.
And I also hope to attract the Pros with extensive experience on internal parts into A/V receivers, plus the newer Automatic room Correction EQ, like Audyssey MultEQ Pro and Audyssey Dynamic EQ + Dynamic Volume, and also the newer Audyssey DSX (Dynamic Surround Expansion).

But other systems, like TRINNOV, MCACC and YPAO, for example, will also be included in the discussions.
Plus the Video processing side will also be explored, now that it's a big part of the "V" equation side of any modern A/V Receiver, even the ones from 12 years ago, to compare the progression.

The thread will be called: "Everything important to know about A/V Surround Receivers, but were afraid to ask".

Coming very very soon...

Bob

I really wish people read more before making comments or judgements, or even starting a new thread.

As with any forum, it would be nice if people googled for 5 minutes before posting a new thread.

You don't know how much I agree with your comment. :)

* But many young people these days, don't use the services available to them;
they go instead for what they think is a quicker solution, when in fact it isn't.

Cheers,

Read this first: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting.php

From the Audioholics Staff and Forum Moderators: We would like to thank all the audioholics members and guests for all the questions and answers posted in these forums. I am sure for most of us these forums are a great way to find answers to all kinds of questions.

As this website grows in popularity we have also seen a large growth in redundant posts. Or posts asking a very generalized question such as should I buy brand A or brand B. Or questions inquiring on what brand of speaker sounds good with brand B receiver. These are all valid questions and they deserve an answer. Sometimes the best answer for these types of questions can be found in an article on the front page. Or can be found using the search link above by typing your key words. If a review has not been done on your product chances are you will find a thread discussing your receiver or speakers. Once you find the thread that fits your topic feel free to post your question there.

Using the search feature or reading the articles on the main page with often solve your problem. It also makes it easier for other users to keep track of the threads they are interested in.
And sometimes people who are not computer literate, not technically inclined, and not familiar with forums end up here and break this "rule", this needs to be understood. I google for hours before posting, and end up with adds and mis-information...Is this a place to chat about audio topics? Or a google search?

I'm new here and wonder which hamburger...huh? What's that? Someone has already posted about which hamburger is best?!

Sorry! I should have Googled that. But if I did I might have ended up at AVS or some other forum :D

I understand how you "veterans" don't want multiple posts on the same subject and we all want folks to search before starting threads but really, this is a FORUM and discussions, even repetitive ones, should be encouraged (and tolerated if that's the situation) since topics that come up often are typically most important to many.

Oh, BTW, happy New Year!

Now i'm not sure if that last post was intentionally misplaced given the nature of this thread, BUT I have to give credit, because if it had not been (mis)posted, I would have never have read the most excellent opener.

The parallel kills me.

By the way, Bigmac & Whopper may be old but they have virtues that may be considered by some or many to be hard to duplicate, ala tube amps. The chargrilled Whopper still hangs tough against much more recent competition.

However, while I can still eat a Wendy's Single (Especially w chilli sauce), and listen to CD's played on old players @ 44.1hz, I prefer eating a much newer Hardee's 6$ burger, or especially the Ruby Tuesday's Triple Prime while listening to my Floyd DSotM on SACD over 5.1 @96k or 192k. The Wendy's Single works, it is just not that good.

Excuse me. I have to go. I'm making myself hungry.

That is the thing that concerns me also. External heat and electronics don't always play nice together. Depending on how hot that chimney wall gets, I don't think that the TV would survive in all that heat for very long.

Mmmmmmmmm. Chimay, very nice. In very limited amounts for me though.

Shinerman,

P.S. Have you ever notice how often beer finds it's way into threads? :p
Does anyone know of any place near Yakima or Seattle or Spokane Washington where I can get a Spectro Acoustics 500 SR reconditioned? It works but could use some work on it.

Spectro Acoustics Amplifier repair and modifications

Does anyone know of any place near Yakima or Seattle or Spokane Washington where I can get a Spectro Acoustics 500 SR reconditioned? It works but could use some work on it.
to answer my own question...I have done some 'homework," and there is a place in California that can repair Spectro Acoustics amplifiers. It is "The Audio Specialist" in Studio City, California. Shop is run by Howard Bardach. My amp needs new "lights" put in it and probably new capacitors, to replace the 30+ year old ones. Any thoughts on this? Email me at "dshearer2001us@yahoo.com"

Hi
I have a NAD T753 Reciever and need a bit of help...(I can't seem to locate my manual)
I turned it on yesterday and about 3 seconds after the display light came on, it turned off..and a red light appeared where normally the green "on" is located.
I've unplugged all speakers, components, and still does it.
I turned on "soft clip" and it stayed on for maybe 10 or 15 seconds before turning off again....
anyone have an idea what could be the problem?
THanks!
