Update to my ongoing Netflix experiment.

Having learned to dial up the res and audio options (having allowable bandwidth) has me testing proxy options for US Netflix.

It's not an official endorsement or anything but I am having great luck over my week of testing a pay proxy/VPN utility called Unblockus which provides Canadian households a US IP address at the router level so that every UPNP device can access all the US streaming stuff you've been missing.

US Netflix, Hulu, Pandora... it's all there, and not just on my PC like a proxy "service" or PC-only VPN, this uses my router so my PS3 and even my Oppo think they have a native US IP address - and you don't have to take your shoes off at a metal detector.

My UPNP devices are *SO* American now they want me to denounce OHIP and deny global warming ;)

But seriously folks... Unblock Us - smarter faster VPN seems to be doing the trick for me and it's very reasonably priced. After a week of seamless operation I sprang for a year at $50. I'll post to this thread of any future issues.

Thanks for this. I have been looking in to some similar services (IP cloaking) so I can get BBC Iplayer to work.
Looking forward to more updates.

Are you in Canada?
We use the BBC Iplayer on a PC and a laptop with no issues at all and without the need for the US IP
Or am I misunderstanding something. We listen to radio 2 and radio 5 live as well, the Archers on whatever that comes in on.

I have been experimenting with an IP service but it only works on the one PC.

Is it easy enough to install this on the Router?

Thanks

Bex
