Sony KDL-32L4000 No Channel Up/Down

My TV has lost its ability to go up or down by a single channel. At first I thought it was just the remote, but it doesn't work by the rocker switch on the TV itself. It was manufactured in May of 2008. Luckily I can still use the number buttons on the remote. Any ideas?

I don't think you will fix this yourself. It will need a repair center.

It is a 32" Sony, model number is in the thread title. I don't expect to fix it, just would like to know what the problem might be internally (I know its hard to diagnose something over the internet, though). I'm wondering if some solder joint got cracked or something got jarred loose when I moved (I moved it 170 miles in August, not sure when it started doing this though). It definitely didn't do this before I moved it.

I don't service TVs but a lot of audio equipment. In general you can not guess a problem, you need it on the bench with instruments connected.

In general modern TVs are not serviceable except by board replacement. So I suspect the board that contains that circuit will have to be replaced.

Alright, thanks for your help. As I said, its not a major issue -- definitely not one I would pay to have fixed, so I guess I'll just live with it. Thanks again!

Do like the old days, run your cable through the VCR and change the channels with the VCR remote!
