Help noob installing Banana plug :((((

I bought banana plug from Bluejeanscable.com. when I tried to insert it into my Marantz SR7005, it didn't fit????!!!! what is happening and what is the solution I attached photos maybe you can able to help me

I've not used the Bluejeans banana's but I've had this issue before. Try and squeeze the end together as you are pushing it in. The end of the plug should compress and slide in.

You could try a pair of needle nose pliers to compress it if your fingers can't push hard enough.

Unscrew the piece with red/black ring. This will cause the splayed end to shrink a little. If this causes the plug to become too loose, tighten it till the fit is snug.

Looking at the second photo more closely, this does seem to be the case.

Interestingly, the Crutchfield website shows the back panel without the inserts. Do they come out before you install the banana plugs?

You are using locking banana plugs. See how the end of your plug is splayed out a little?

I'm not sure how to unlock that particular plug. There should be something you can twist or slide on the plug to unlock it. Insert it, then you lock it.

I tried to remove the plastic plug, but it doesn't seem to be moving at all.

It seems completey different from mine?? But it is clear these inserts are add-on or possible safety features. do I need to change the plug on my AVR??

I am staying in Dubai, the funny thing is the technician said any banana plug will fit, I am sure he has no idea about it.
I will contact the number you gave to me and hopefully find better answer.

I recall that some manufacturers install blocking caps inside the binding posts on European components to prevent end users from inserting electrical plugs, which are a very similar width and pin size. The Crown XLS amplifier I recently purchased (and returned) had very similar plugs in its binding posts, and there was a short blurb in the owners manual about this. Was your receiver sold for or in the EU market?

The other argument is that the simpler the connection the better. Adding spades or plugs could be different metals and gives a chance for noise where bare wire eliminates that possibility.

I prefer bare wire on permanent installations, plugs for troubleshooting or temporary installs. But you have a good point to be careful with bare wires. After you think all is hooked up, go back and double check every connection very closely, even use a mag glass and flashlight if you have to .

Most of AVR spec that sold in UAE (may) match the EU standard, since all electronic utilize 220v.

I've went through the manual and found the following; the connection can be done by bare wire only??? There is full illustration about how do I connect it to AVR. The manual don't have anything related to spades or banana plugs.

I had bad experience with spades (bought from bluejeanscable.com) it connected very well with my Klipsch, but it doesn't not fit in my Marantz SR7005. So I have to follow carful installation of bare wire to avoid any issues. Also, I spoke with ONkyo distributer in Dubai and he told me they use bare wire only and they never used any plugs when installing Onkyo to any customer. so I believe the same thing may apply for Marantz in UAE.

ALL Marantz gear ships with the blocking caps installed in the binding posts, so these do need to be removed first as mentioned.

I've been using connectors on the ends of my wires for YEARS with no issues. Does it make the sound better or worse? Nope, but it sure is 100% easier to setup when I change things around. I did have some bananas that became loose and slipped out of the posts on the back of the receiver, which is why I only use locking plugs for those connections now.

Yes I got blue jeans locking bananas and I did release the lock before trying to install them with no success.

Please tell me how to remove these blocking caps

Looking at your pictures, I would say try unscrewing the top portion of the binding post completely. That plug will probably come out from the inside. I had some speakers that were like this, but all my Marantz receivers so far have just had some small press in ones from the outside. I've never seen ones like the ones in your pictures.
