12" subwoofer to fit custom box.

The sub that was in there busted, so I need a new one. Looking to keep it under $200.

Just to confirm, you are using the custom enclosure that I spec'ed for the DHD woofer, correct?

What type of budget are you on here and what is the primary application (Home Theater, Music, etc.)?

Yes, and under $100. The amp I will be using already has a sub-bass blocker (high pass at 15hz 24 db/octave) and a crossover from 50-200hz at 24 db/octave. The amp specification is 500watts RMS but I don't think that I need to worry about coming close to that under $100.

I modelled a CSS Trio 12 in that box, but it's very peaky. Would it be a problem with you, if we doubled the length of vent to a total length of 40 to 50"? Because the box size works, just not the vent length. Power Handling would be over 500w without anything close to an issue.

The way the box is designed and the current amount of materials and tools available to me makes it difficult to extend the slot length. I could add some acoustic stuffing, however, would that help at all with the peakiness?

While that sounds good in theory, remember that you will be losing volume with the addition of the vent length...

How so? I had in mind an external add on, similar to the HSU VTF3 turbo charger.
