Well, since I have dual HTPC, dual pre-pros, 3 amps, 4 speaker systems, I might as well have dual projectors.:D

The BenQ W6000 DLP 1080p has served me well over the last year. Beautiful color, contrast, and blacks. It may not beat the JVC in terms of overall picture quality, but it will kick the JVC's butts when it comes to the best calibrated picture mode BRIGHTNESS by about 100%!

The BenQ W6000 is listed at $3500. A year ago, I paid around $2200 for it. Since Amazon now has it for $1379, I had to buy another one to back up my first PJ.:D

At $1379 brand new, there is no doubt in my mind it is the best 1080p projector out there on the market today.

Nice!

I still can't believe that you made us all wait an extra three days to see that... :D

Spoken like a true Audioholic!:D

I got it yesterday around noon, but was away at the in-law most of the day. You bet it was hard on me.:D

When we got home, my wife wanted to watch the Columbiana movie - another delay.

So by the time I had it set up and calibrated exactly like my PJ#1, it was midnight.

Took some quick pictures and then went to bed.:D

Stayed up until midnight and then took pictures for us before bed? Okay, okay...all is forgiven. :)

Kidding aside, it's probably best that you didn't get it on Saturday. With all the holiday stuff going on, you would have been going nuts thinking about that PJ. :D

No more spending for me for the rest of the year!:D
Even with only four days left, I'm calling BS on that one. :p

Why don't you use them in tandem an get a 20% (If I remember correctly) bump in overall lumen output?

Even in low lamp economy mode, it gets 873 lumens in best calibrated picture mode!

Anyway, the primary reason is for backing up my PJ.

According to the manual, in economy mode, the lamp gets 3000 hrs. So when it hits 2500 hrs, I will replace the lamp, which will take a few days to order and everything. Thus, the backup plan.:D

Nice ACDTG. :D

Is it a 3D projector? If so you should calibrate one for 2D and the other for 3D.

Yeah, 'cause just buying another backup lamp now would be crazy. :p

When you say BACK UP, does that mean you don't run the new one at all? Or do you run it once in a while to keep tabs on it, to make sure it still works when you need it? Can't beat the reason why you have two, especially at that price.

No. The W6000 is a 2D 2500 Lumen PJ.

The upcoming W7000 will be a 3D 2000 Lumen PJ. So you gain the 3D, lose the brightness, and probably pay the full $3500 price tag.

Since I don't even like 3D video, the W6000 makes more sense for me.:D

I just don't like buying something and leaving it unused for years.

What happens if the lamp doesn't work in 2 yrs? Then I'll be really screwed.

With dual PJ, I can alternate the usage and know full well that both are working.:D

Plus it looks very symmetric and cool to have dual PJ.

PS they do sell spare lamps
"BenQ 5J.J2605.001 Replacement Lamp for W6000 Projector $269.00 at B&H that's like a $1100 in savings to apply towards another audio item.

Sure, but you would have to buy the PJ from the Best Buy selection and pay full price plus tax and pay them like $500 for the 3 yr replacement plan?

Sure I can order the lamp for $269 from Amazon and get it in 2 days or pay $4 and get it in 1 day NOW.

But will that be the case in 1 yr? 2 yr?

And if I buy the lamp now, will it still work in 2 yrs?
