How to connect modern and vintage gear to a Denon DVD 3910

First post here.
I'm a vintage audio guy but am slowly adding modern gear into the mix. I've recently aquired a Denon DVD 3910 universal DVD player and am trying to figure out the best way to hook the rest of my stuff up to it.
I have a Sansui AU-717 integrated amp which is a 2 channel analog piece plus a new Panasonic 42 inch plasma HDTV.
I'm guessing the best route is to hook the TV up to the Denon via the Denon's HDMI port and the amp up via the Denon's 2 channel audio out RCA jacks.
I've done a lot of reading up on the 3910 and I think I recall reading that using the HDMI port will disable some other outputs. I'm not sure if the 2 channel audio out jacks will be included in this. Any advice?
Also...the HDMI port states "ver 1.1" Do I need a specific HDMI cable?

I suspect that if you use the HDMI port the analog outs will not work. You should consult your manual.

Which Panasonic TV do you have? If it has analog outs I would send the audio out from the TV to your Sansui integrated amp.

If the analog outs work on your DVD player when you select the HDMI out you could connect the way you suggest.

Hi. I think that your connection plans are good.

Per the manual, you can connect the video using HDMI and the audio using the analog audio outputs.

Regarding HDMI 1.1, you don't need any specific type of HDMI cable.

Thanks for the input...pun intended. :D
The manual is a tad vague in this regard and does not address my particular issue directly. I doubt that many people who own this unit have it connected to a 70's amp.
I plan on splitting the 2 ch audio out leads from the 3910 and send the analog output signal to both the Sansui amp and to my Little Dot MK III headphone amp. So this will be used for movie audio and video as well as CD playback. I'll just fire up the intended amp and leave the other off. I'm not planning on using the HDTV speakers at all.
Fingers crossed.

If you have the TV RCA outs connected to the stereo amp, you'll have remote volume control for both TV and DVD. That's a worthwhile luxury.

Things which receiver HDMI audio (like the TV) sometimes tell the source that they can only accept stereo, and that might cause the S/PDIF out on the DVD player to revert to a PCM stereo mix derived from the lossy 5.1 mix.
