Talked him down to $70 for both pairs. Thoughts? Worth it? I am looking for as much value for my money as I can get - I'm on a college budget (see the name) but enjoy higher quality audio than most.

If you prefer higher quality sound - then skip those speakers.
What is your max budget?

I was trying my best to keep it under $150 with an amp. Bang for the buck is key, thus my reasoning for trying craigslist. For less than $15 per speaker they seemed hard to beat. I'd be keeping one set and giving the other to my sister.

I'd look for some old 90s Infinitys then. Good sound and can be had on the cheap, though they will likely need refoaming on the large drivers (~$10 each).

For the price, the JVCs will likely give you sound, but quality sound? No. Can good sound be achived at $150 used? Yes, but I'd try to split that budget more like 50/50.

Heres a whole setup for $200 or best offer. Infinity speakers.

Thoughts?

These are almost completely for music by the way.

I think I missed that deal. Do any of the others look good?

Those 152s look like what I was thinking of, but $100 is too high for them with damaged surrounds on the woofers.

The RS125s look OK too for that price.

What would be a fair price, is fixing the tears easy? I offers $60 in order to order to negotiate a bit. Also offered $25 for the 125's.

That sounds about right, I was thinking $50. Looks like most places have the refoam kits for $30 which will repair two woofers.

you guys drive me crazy, talking out your butts based on name brand without ever hearing the speaker.thats a mistake. I almost sold a set of jvc 7300 without hearing them, but upon plugging them in and hearing, I am keeping them. they offer a fantastic full range hi quality sound. I would put them up against most book shelf from polk and klipsch of which i am selling both.hardly any bass and tiny midrange. The smaller bookshelf just cant compete.I have $300 paragdim bookshelf and the jvc's sound fuller. they are really a great sounding speaker.great even bass as it should.good balance & soundstage.

Whatever floats your boat, alien. Personally, to me they look like something that came from one of those horrid all-in-one tower systems they sold from the late '70's to the 'early '90's.

In any case, some of us have been involved in this hobby for quite a long time and our range of experience and exposure, both professionally and hobbiest, just might surprise you.

And, you DO realize this thread is five years old, doncha?
