Fwiw...Dave has posted the results of the RAAL 70-20XR vs NrT...for those interested....:)
...No surprises there... the 70-20XR wiped the floor like a swiffer sweeper. :D

It does have me rethinking my horns plan though... I might just end up with a RAAL 140-15D...

.... I need to put some serious thought into this.

I dunno not everyone was wooed over by the RAAL ...some of the listeners preferred the sound of NrT dome...if or when I might trade up to the towers... I'm likley staying with the NrT as I've grown very fond of and accoustomed to their characteristics....;).

We need a Philharmonic 1/2/3 vs SongTower RT vs Ascend Tower RAAL (vs SongTower OW2 vs OW4 vs Ascend Tower Nrt shootout). I'd invest in Orville Redenbacher.

Those Ascend towers have some sick measurements to begin with and that RAAL tweeter puts it over the top...wow! Impressive! I'm willing to bet either of those speakers would be worth every penny.

will R500 qualify for this? Since they are not internet direct their MSRP of $2,600 will be a $1,900 on the street, or maybe even R700 for like $2,400. considering their Q series positive reviews the R series should be a strong contender in under 2K class.
Any1 seen any good reviews on the R series yet?

No reviews as of yet...? But hell....I would buy them solely based on the opinions or views expressed by some of the members or folks around here ...;).

^^ Ditto, am looking for the R Series REVIEWS... have not seen any yet.
They should be coming I hope by XMas...

The R900 is AWESOME and it's Measurements look even better -- Big/Bold with A Serious Statement, and I love metal Mag/Alum drivers if done right and I am sure as big as KEF is it will be done right on !!

I think you're right - with speakers people aren't always going to prefer any specific option. Sometimes they want 'slam', sometimes they want tube amps, some prefer vinyl, sometimes they want pinpoint imaging even if it's not there... lots of things people want that don't correlate to subjective or even objective "accuracy". most of the time though I feel people just get what they get (whether for audition availability..price...aesthetics.. reviews) and then 'Set it.. and Forget it'. Sometimes accuracy sounds fundamentally wrong too, lots of music isn't meant to be resolved to the most minute details... just not intended...

There's so many reasons to prefer what we prefer as individual constitutions vary greatly. Get what's in your budget, that you feel comfortable with and just enjoy it. If you get upgraditis, enjoy that too. Me I'm always after what I hope is accuracy. So the RAALs excite me but i'm not willing to shell out for them.. yet.

Ascend Acoustics Towers

We are all still waiting on some reviews of the Ascend Acoustics Newly Released TOWER's - Are there any reviews out there yet? :)

Hopefully some reviews With and Without the RAAL tweeter so the two can be compared.

Warpdrv -- can't wait to read how they stack up to SS and Sig. S8's... that is a Heavy LIFT... upwards. :D

Waiting... patiently by.

I think it will be more of a comparo between the SS and the Ascend towers IMO...

We have done the shootout with the S8's in the mix, and the Sigs just have different characteristics. They are really good in my opinion, but they are not nearly as delicate as the Salks, or the Ribbon tweeters for that matter...

The Salks have a much more intricate, gentle nature to the tweeters and definitely have a more pronounced detail in the mid range, then the S8's... The Sigs are powerhouses and will stay in my house for HT purposes, and they rock out hard for my house parties - when I want to shake up the neighborhood. They can hang much better at serious high SPLs with my Xlerators, and still stay extremely clean doing so which says alot.

The Salk's for me are my critical listening speakers.

Warpdrv has his priorities, and I think he made the perfect choice for both rooms in his home. He's got some awesome setups!

This personally confirms to me that Paradigm doesn't sound as "musical" to me as some other speakers.

Of course, others may disagree with me.:D

Well, to add to the "personality," I agree with Warpdrv. But he uses them for house parties and HT, and for that they rock!

And I would agree that Warp knows the Ascend Towers will not hold a candle against the Paradigm Sig. S8's to kick 'em up for a big house party or HT, but put a Klipsch RF-7II up against a Paradigm Sig. S6 or S8 that would be a good shootout, and an Open House Party rattling the windows also, until the man shows up to Shut It Down! :D:eek:

Now, for a KEF R900 at Sens. = 90dB w/ 250W RMS w/ 12' Listening dist. will produce 105.7dB

Now, for a Klipsch RF-7II at Sens. = 101dB w/ 250W RMS w/ 12' List. Dist. will produce 116.7dB

Now, for Ascend Tower at Sens. = 92dB w/ 350W RMS w/ 12' List. Dist. will produce 109.2dB
(Notice I increased the Power into the Ascend to 350W RMS of Clean Power per Ascend specs.).

Now, for Ascend Tower at Sens. = 92dB w/ 250W RMS w/ 12' List. Dist. will produce 107.7dB

and the Winner is _____ ?

I bet for big giant crazy loud house parties & loud movies, the JTR speakers will do great as well. Clear and loud, regardless of speaker measurements or lack of. :D

Why, 2 JTR Triple 8 for $1100 each would be great w/ usable output to 129dB:

http://jtrspeakers.com/home-audio/triple-8ht/

Nothing wrong, but I don't think you need $8K speakers for that. :D
